"Yea, that's probably hard to forgive and forget. I don't think I could have forgiven my dad if he had left us. I hope your mom didn't take it too hard." After Astoria said it she realized that was a stupid thing to say. Of course she had taken it hard. No one wouldn't have.

Astoria looked at him. "One of your parents pass away?" she asked. She knew from experience that it was a lot easier to talk normally about it than to just be told over an over again by people how sorry they were for you.

"No, he passed away a few years ago. He was in a terrible car accident. I was 15. He was on his way to a business meeting and the roads were icy. He skidded into the oncoming traffic and collided with a semi." Astoria tried not to sound upset.

Astoria held her cold hands up to the heat. "Some do. It's what my dad used to call me, so all my friends who met him took to calling me that. I don't mind either way." she said.

Astoria waited in the car until Micheal came back. "Are they going to be alright now? We don't need to stay with them for a little while do we?" she asked concerned.

{Regrettably, no, but I've seen pictures. I would love to go.}

Astoria laughed. "You definitely make it work." she joked back.

{Sounds peaceful.}

"No, she decided to get as far away from here as possible. She's at a university in New York." Astoria said.

{Crap! I forgot to tell you to have fun on your trip!!!!.... HAVE FUN!!!! ;) }


Astoria thought of her friends. "My friends are mostly like me. They're sort of shy and reserved. I love them all though. We understand and accept each other completely. I do have this one friend though. She's my complete opposite. Parties every night, new boyfriend every month. I guess that's why we work though." she realized she had a far off smile on her face and brought herself back to reality. "Sorry, I babble when it comes to certain subjects. Please feel free to tell me to shut up at any point in time." she said embarrassed by her burst of talkativeness. She suddenly thought about how nice this guy was to be listening to her and actually acting like he was interested in what she had to say. It was nice talking to him, and she figured she would have been completely comfortable if it weren't for the two highly intoxicated specimens in the back.

"I try, but classes take up most of my time. The only reading I really do anymore is in my text books. My friends get frustrated that I never have time to do anything. How did you meet these two?" she asked nodding back at the two passed out teens.

"I like the one at the college. It has such amazing architecture. I can sit in there for hours and read. Which one do you like better?" she asked

"I don't really know of many places just to hang out. I'm usually at the library or at home. Where do you go for fun?" she asked a little embarrassed that she sounded so anti-social.

"Uhhhhh... you can call me Astor. How about you just sit back down, ok. You'll be home soon." Astoria couldn't help but feel sorry for her. She was seeing this girl at her very worst, and Astoria imagined she'd be horrified when she sobered up tomorrow.

Astoria was glad she decided to come. Between Lorraine being barely able to stand up by herself and Ryan's less than polite comments about how he could drive himself home, she didn't think Michael would have been able to handle them by himself. As they walked up to the car, Astoria tried to help Michael get his drunk friends into the back.

{It's fine. Hope everything worked out.}

Astoria smiled at him. "They're lucky to have a friend like you. I'll come. You may need help with them."

Ryan laughed and stared at Michael for a few minutes expecting him to say he was just kidding, but when he saw that Michael was dead serious he shrugged indifferently and tossed his keys to Michael.

{No, I don't have a job. :( Where do you intern?}

Ryan was grinning like an idiot. "Oh come on man, lighten up! We're just havin' a little fun! Why do you need my keys?" he slurred his words a little.
