Hi Becca! Welcome!Forgive my lack of greeting earlier- internet issues- but I can't wait to hear about your books!
Is the second a sequel? Tell us more! :)

These topics may be in other groups- but there are so many pages to go through, I wanted to create a group that was simple, and new, for those of us that are trying to get our books known. But it isn't just for those of us without agents and houses to help us. We need established authors too to help us. Or those of who have gone through all this to tell us it is normal, or if not, what to do? Their expertise so to speak.

I've read that so many authors use music to write. Personally I need silence so I can picture the scene in my head and feel with the characters so that I can then write it out-So when it comes to writers block, would any of you offer to try music? Or a different kind of music to help some one through?
What are your helps for writers blocks?

So, for other authors out there, what is it that drives you nuts about writing. Yes we love doing it, but there has to be a balance too of frustration?I learned today that last year there was a big hullabaloo about two authors who were buying reviews, I'm still not sure how that would even work, and has them posted to their books. One went so far as to give other competitors if you will, one star reviews.
I guess I didn't think authors could cheat that way. That frustrates me along with noises while I'm trying to write lol- but the first- that made me want to make separate post of known proven cheaters so we as readers would know they cheated and put a ban on buying their books.
What frustrates you as an author?

Hello!Boy ya know, I have tried so many different ways to get my book known and out there. And yet, sales are pretty slow. I am still trying to become "established" so my name isn't really "known".
Does anyone have any ideas on how to work with the situation? Does it just take time? Is this a normal thing?
Anything I can do short of all the sites- (I'm even still trying to learn everything about this one- but I have the give away pending, I have fb and a blog and a site)
I did two signings that almost no one showed up to.
If my book isn't "yet" sold in the stores- (it's coming) am I allowed to maybe have a signing inside a book store maybe? Any other ideas for those who have gotten their name out there and have a following now?
Thank you for your thoughts!

Little intro about myself. My name is Kerry Morgan, Indie author of books that I just, I feel are so important, and I'd like, I ask, for any suggestions on how to get the word out.My series beginning with the Spirit Dragon, is to entertain young readers, really any age, like anyone can read Harry Potter or C.S. Lewis and enjoy it- with adventure and mystical creatures and all those wonderful things; but also maybe learn a bit about bullying and how to deal with it. Maybe find some answers about their own self esteem.
I am working really hard and have passed a couple steps to get the first two books into the middle school in my area, as part of their curriculum.
Another wonderful author, and incredible person in general, the Assistant Principal of the HS read the books and said he was "deeply moved". Since then he has decided to help try to get these books where they might really be helpful. Right inside the schools where a lot of bullying happens.
But when it comes to young readers or books that are written for young readers but any age would enjoy... How do you spark interest, so that people will look at the book, maybe even (gasp) buy it to get the message.
My reviews are few but great. I've given away several with promises of reviews which didn't happen. I have both books as a give away here.
I blog, I have an author page at FB and a regular page I promote with. I review for others in hopes they will review for me too.
But what about the author who is just browsing around Amazon? Or Barnes n Noble, How can we get our books noticed?
What have other authors tried to generate success?
At the present time I am waiting for that extra 25 I could actually spend on createspace to have these books put in the book stores- (however I am out of work with a back injury thus can only afford essentials but it's coming!)
Any thoughts are welcome-
Kerry Morgan
( Please feel free to post your own topic as well- or comment- I'm not familiar with the way these forums works- if you can post a new "thread" as your own- or it just keeps going inside one- bear with me as I learn please. ;) )
Welcome to the new group. I have created this group so that we as authors can pass around tips, ask questions, and talk about our books. There are so many pages to the introduce self place- this is kind of a special one for new authors, or one that might be on page 6 hidden within the depths of every introduction. ;)I wish I could pin this welcome post- but do feel welcomed, and at ease! We are nothing if not respectful to each other.
Kerry Morgan
