I just read "The Woman in Red" by Diana Giovinazzo which covers South American history (1833-1847 Brazil). It focuses on the war for independence in Southern Brazil led by Garibaldi.

I'll admit I know less much South American history than North American. Now I've learned a little about this ten year struggle for independence.

I don't have a book for any of the other continents yet, but am reading diversely.
