I just finished reading The Zahir, and it was pretty. I wound up rating it 3 stars.

Europe: The Periodic Table by Primo Levi.

Asia: Falling Leaves by Adeline Yen Mah.

Australia: Capricornia by Xavier Herbert.

Africa: Purple Hibiscus by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.

I'm thinking I might start with The Zahir by Paulo Coelho. It's been on my shelf for a very long time and I'm excited to get to it.

I read Esperanza Rising by Pam Munoz Ryan a while back and really enjoyed it.
