Hi!! Thank you so much for listening to us! :) We're actually currently on a small hiatus due to my personal situation at the moment, but hopefully we'll be back as soon as possible. There are a bunch of episodes to catch up on if you'd like, including us covering The Midnight Club Netflix adaptation!
1115138 Welcome to the discussion thread for our Episode 5 book: Slumber Party (1985)!

It was the perfect weekend...for murder.

Lara thought the ski trip should be a blast. The old gang was getting together again for the first time in years. What could be better than six single girls out for sun and ski and apres ski -- plus a huge house and a warm fire? Even with the memory of what had happened the last time, it looked like the perfect weekend. Until things started to go wrong....

It wasn't much at first -- a snowman that melted when it shouldn't have, a weird phone call. But then somebody went out for "one last run" and didn't come back. And the storm they heard about on the radio was getting worse. Lara thought everyone was up there for a good time. But she was beginning to realize that someone was up there for murder.

1115138 Welcome to the discussion thread for our Episode 4 Book: MONSTER!

From the synopsis:

She said she killed them because they were monsters. Mary Blanc walked into the party with a loaded shotgun. In the blink of an eye she blew two people away. She wanted to kill more, but was stopped by her best friend, Angela Warner, and the police. The next day, when Angela visits Mary at the jail, she asks why she did it. Mary responds, "Because they were no longer human." Angela thinks she's crazy. At first.

Until she probes deeper into Mary's claims and discovers a horror so unimaginable that she thinks she is going crazy. She even gets to the point where she wonders if she should have let Mary keep on killing. While there was still time to stop the thing from spreading. The very old thing. The hungry thing.

1115138 Welcome to the discussion thread for our Episode 3 Book: THE MIDNIGHT CLUB

From the synopsis: Rotterham Home was a hospice for young people, a place where teenagers with terminal illness went to die. Nobody who checked in ever checked out. It was a place of pain and sorrow, but also, remarkably, a place of humour and adventure. At the hospice was a group of five young men and women who called themselves the Midnight Club. Every night at twelve they met and told each other stories - tales of intrigue and horror, of life and death. True stories, made-up stories, and stories that fell somewhere in between.

But one night, in the middle of a particularly scary story, these five people make a pact with each other that says that the first one of them who dies is to make every effort to contact the others - from beyond the grave.

Then one of them does die.

And the story begins.

The most wonderful story.

The most horrible.

1115138 Welcome to the discussion thread for our Episode 2 Book: WHISPER OF DEATH (1991)!

From the synopsis: Roxanne and Pepper are a teenage couple with problems. They leave their small town for a weekend to try and solve them. They don't really succeed, and when they return home they find their town empty.

They call other towns.

They find the whole world empty.

But eventually they discover three other Kids their Age who are still alive in the town. They cannot imagine why the five of them seem to be the only ones left of the entire human race. They have only one thing in common. They were each directly or indirectly involved in the death of Betty Sue - the plain, shy girl who committed suicide only a short time ago. Betty Sue - the quiet, brilliant girl who wrote short stories about each of them. Stories of hate, of revenge, of death in a dead world.

It makes them wonder who Betty Sue really was.

Or what Betty Sue was.

1115138 I am LOVING reading all these introductions, omg! I have to admit that I didn't know anyone else that loved or even knew of Pike growing up, so meeting so many people - and getting to do this podcast in general - is SO amazing for me!!

I've been a fan of Christopher Pike since the fifth grade! I read his books and found myself spoiled a bit, since nothing else in the 'teen genre' range really compared to how 'adult' the books felt. I read his actual adult books later, and loved those, too!

My favorites: Road to Nowhere, The Starlight Crystal, Whisper of Death, Fall Into Darkness, and Monster. I also really love The Immortal, and credit that book to my lifelong dream of visiting Greece, haha.

I'm SO EXCITED to be doing this podcast with Becca & Cooper, and am really excited to get to know some fellow fans!! :D

1115138 Welcome to the discussion thread for our Episode 1 Book: DIE SOFTLY (1991)!

From the synopsis: Herb just wanted to photograph the cheerleaders in the school showers. He planted his camera high in the corner where no one could see it, and rigged it to a special homemade timer. He did that Thursday night, and he hoped that by Friday night he would have an exciting roll of film to develop.

But a girl dies Friday afternoon. On the surface it appears to be nothing more than a tragic car accident. But when Herb finally does collect his roll of film, he develops a picture that shows a shadowy figure sneaking up on the girl who has died - sneaking up on her with a baseball bat. It makes Herb wonder if the girl was dead long before the car accident. But unfortunately for Herb, he doesn't wonder if the murderer knows he took the picture.
