I love The Seven Sisters by Lucinda Riley, it's the first book in my favourite series. Maybe The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo as well, I read that recently and enjoyed it. Would definitely back Tiannah's suggestion of Colleen Hoover- I've only read Verity which is a bit on the darker side but she's a great author!
I've read Pet Sematary and Carrie, I enjoyed them both but didn't make much of a last impression. I really want to read Doctor Sleep but I've tried The Shining at least 3 times and never made it more than half way!I'll have to check out some more of Dean Koontz then, thanks! I've read the first few in his Odd Thomas series but that's all.
I struggle a lot with Stephen King too, have only managed to read one or two of his. I'll have to try Misery though, I think someone else has mentioned that one recently too. Yes I did enjoy The Woman in Black too, and Hill House, that's a good choice for Halloween. My favourite is probably The Fog by James Herbert, it's very gruesome though.
I've just finished one called Hydra by Matt Wesolowski that was pretty creepy, it's 2nd in a series but can be read as a standalone. Michelle Paver's Thin Air is a good ghost story too, and I really enjoyed The Ritual by Adam Neville but I know that has mixed reactions from people.
Does anyone else read horror books? I always dedicate the whole of October to them, and I love them but it's reallly difficult to find a properly scary one! Any suggestions?
I think it's affected my concentration mostly, I'm reading but stop more often that I used to, feeling like a I need to check twitter or look something up. I've started putting my phone far away!
It's actually the only one of hers I've read, because I saw so many people in other groups talking about it. It is pretty disturbing in places just to warn you but honestly everyone seems to have a different theory about it, there's even a Facebook group to share them!
I have The Vanishing Half on my 'to read' pile, will have to give it a go! Has anyone read Verity by Colleen Hoover?
There always seems to be one weirdly popular book around that's actually really badly written, I don't know how they do it! I actually agree about The Casual Vanacy yeah, gave up half way too
The only one I can recall really disliking is called Tangerine. I don't even have a particular reason, I was just expecting more and it felt it never really went anywhere
I can never decide about the movies, I enjoy them but they never quite matched up for me. Also reading the books can take me straight back to being a kid but when I watch the movies now I feel really old!
I haven't read Le Petit Prince, but I do remember reading His Dark Materials when I was younger, they're great! And I loved Harry Potter too. I remember finishing work at 11 and queuing for the midnight release of the last book.
My favourite was The Prisoner of Azkaban, though, I read that so many times that my copy is literally falling apart
