1115614 All This Time All This Time by Mikki Daughtry

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was definitely a five-star read. "All This Time" is about a boy named Kyle who discovers that his girlfriend - Kim - isn’t going to the same college as him as he planned on the night of their graduation. Tragically, on the way home from their graduation party, Kyle and Kim break up and get into a car accident, and she dies. While Kyle is grieving he has to deal with mental health issues and meets a manic pixie dream girl named Marley. Together, Kyle learns a lot about himself, his friends, and discovers something that could turn his life upside down.
In this book, I loved the storyline (especially the ending) and the relationship that Marley and Kyle built. Daughtry and Lippincott did an amazing job of keeping you invested in the story, with lots of realistic actions from Kyle and the people around him that resulted in scenes that were enticing and that flowed effortlessly. The story was very easy to relate to. For me, the ending was unexpected and I couldn’t put the book down while I was reading it. I think that Marley and Kyle’s relationship was very realistic and flowed very easily. In the end, I think that you can really see how all their time together helped them to grow individually.
My least favorite part of this story was Kyle’s personality at the beginning. He is very self-centered and hard to like, and after the accident, he doesn’t let any of his emotions affect him. This does change about a third of the way in when he finally starts to process.
I think that anyone 13+ would enjoy this book, but I would give a warning to anyone who is sensitive about mental health, death, hospitals, and/or car accidents.

1115614 Majesty (American Royals, #2) Majesty by Katharine McGee

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is definitely a 5/5! It's about how the Queen of America learns to deal with grief while in the public eye, and about how that grief and outside factors influence the fate of the country and society. I loved how it picked up right from the end of the previous book. McGee did a great job developing the characters in this book, and I really enjoyed how she used the end of the previous book to influence how the characters grew. However, my favorite part was the end. I loved how Beatrice grew during the end and where the book led us, even with the decision that Jeff made at the end. My least favorite part is the character arc of Daphne. I felt like she was going to get a redemption but then something happens that made me hate her again. I wish that a different choice had been made, even though it was the set up for a third book (hopefully). I think that this book is definitely more "girly" than most boys would like but I still think that everyone would enjoy seeing how America would be if it was a monarchy. I would however say that it should be for a 12+ audience.
