I recently wrote a review of The Siren's Tale and I mentioned my disappointment about the use of expletives/swearwords in the narrative. However, I did say that I found it acceptable in the dialogue of a novel since it adds a touch of reality. I was trying to be objective of course, but I still wonder whether I was being objective or whether it was a personal thing. I have to admit that I do use swearwords, appropriately I hope, in my own writing - but I did feel "shocked" or "offended" (not sure) to read expletives in the narrative. The Siren's Tale
Is this dystopian poetry?A View from the Cliffs
Will you go with me now
To the country?
To the side
That should be green.
To the place
Where beasts that we hear of
Are now
No longer seen.
Will you stare with me now
At the azure?
At the sky
That turns litmus red.
At the air
That was home to the skylark,
Whose song
May soon be dead.
Will you swim with me now
In the ocean?
In the spume
That spawned Life on Earth.
In the home
Of the whale and the herring,
Now oil's
Drowned Neptune's mirth.
