If you ♡ the manuscript the way it is then do..."I agree completely. You can drive yourself crazy trying to stick to an ideal wordcount.

Thank you :)He has a physical addiction to magic so the scenes when he's casting are always fun to write.

Thanks ! I wish I had more time to go back and read all the posts I've missed. Going to try and keep a better eye on this one from now on :)
So, I've been lurking here a lot. Read a lot of great stuff ! Decided to finally join the fun. I wrote this earlier today. Its from the first draft of book 3 in my fantasy trilogy.
It was a euphoric experience that was hard to turn my back on. To know I had the power to eradicate a good number of the men and beasts invading the streets of Kabri in moments, and couldn’t—was maddening. But violence stirred my magic. Aggression fed it. Both fed the Crown of Stones. Simply being immersed in the fight incited it. Already, below the leather of my armor and the linen of my shirt, I could feel the nine auras writhing. Whispering promises of victory, they taunted me with the ecstasy that would follow, tempting me to give no care to the citizens my spell would drain, or the flesh I would exchange for scars. They made me hungry in a way that was jarringly similar to the eldring’s thirst for blood. Both races beset with an all-powerful need, we shared the burden of an inborn addiction that made us each our own kind of monster.
Hello, I write epic and urban fantasy, some post apocalyptic when the mood strikes. Just self-published my first novel in December. It's the first in a trilogy, so I'm furiously working on #2 - and #3 when it won't leave me alone.
