Hi Rebecca, you beat me to it before I edited it to 7! :) Yes definitely a great result. To my shame I (Louise- FBS moderator here!) haven't read any of these. I have A Spool of Blue Thread so will bump that up my "to be read" list.
The Man Booker longlist for 2015 has been announced and 7 of the 13 novels are by women writers. This is a massive improvement on last year which only contained 3. Check out our 'shelf' with them all here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...Have you read any of these books? What did you like/ dislike about them? Share your thoughts here!

July 9th was June Jordan's birthday. Poet, author, playwright and founder of “Poetry for the People”; June Jordan left behind a large body of work. She is remembered for her unerring dedication to human rights and political activism, while her powerful poetry and astute observations on race, sexuality and global injustice uplifts and informs, in equal measure. Hi there! *waves* For Books' Sake has been a little quiet on Goodreads for a while but we are now back and raring to go! If you are our "friend" or follow our reviews, you might have noticed that we are developing our bookshelves. Our vision is to create an at a glance, one stop shop directory of women's writing so we've got shelves of all the main genres and also for groups we particularly want to promote such as women writers of colour and LGBTQI+ authors. As you can see its a work in progress! So please help us out. Recommend here or send us a message with your favourite books by women writers and which categories they should go in. Thanks and look forward to hearing from you.
It's our 3rd birthday today! The site has been revamped, with an exciting new events page, which you can submit events to by emailing hello@forbookssake.net. We also have a better design as well as improved search and share functions. Go check them out!Our brilliant editor, Jane Bradley, has also written this amazing article about why, three years on, For Books' Sake is still an essential voice. Click here for the article!
Our lovely features editor, Beulah, is looking for pieces covering the birthdays of Ntozake Shange, Zadie Smith and Doris Lessing. If you're interested, or want to pitch another feature, please leave a comment here or tweet For Books' Sake at @forbookssake or Beulah at @TheNotoriousBMD
This topic is somewhat inspired by Jeanette Winterson's birthday (which we wrote about here), but anything goes! Fiction, non fiction, YA, sci-fi, erotica, poetry, memoir, graphic novels...This is the place to pick up recommendations, no matter what genre you're into!
