I made the change to xmas a while back, but does changing the name really change anything? The holiday christmas does exist so it seems harmless to refer to it as such. Maybe its better to refer to it as christmas so as not to attempt to recognize some sort of christless version of a now christian holiday. I just watched the movie zeitgeist which had some very interesting things to say about the "birth of christ." I suppose it would make sense to study whichever pre-christian rituals were practiced around December 25th, and make a decision from there. Education predicating decision making, what is the world coming to?www.zeitgeistmovie.com/
We all grow and learn and sometimes wish to depart from some of the traditions we were taught growing up. I personally enjoy the celebration and the gathering of family and friends that the holidays afford us, as well as the time off from work. I am curious of what you think about trying to create our own holidays. It seems that because we are all tiny entities in a very large society, it makes the most sense to use the time alloted for traditional holidays to celebrate our own. What do you think? Should we create our own, celebrate existing holidays in our own way, or continue on as we have been? Any ideas about specific new holidays?
This was super good. I think you would all like this and If you read it I want to know what you think.
