It's so interesting how the common thread seems to be wanting to see Arobynn--and see him get what he deserves!
Now that we've read Throne of Glass and Crown of Midnight, I'd love to hear your predictions and hopes for Heir of Fire! (Reminder to anyone lucky enough to have an early copy: please keep this thread spoiler-free!)
"You will always be my enemy."Probably wrong to call it a favorite, since I hate what it refers to, but it's a great quote!
Hi everyone, just to confirm, the series is going to be six main books long (seven if you include The Assassin's Blade, the collection of novellas!) Sarah has another series, A Court of Thorns and Roses, that will be three books long and that starts in May 2015.
This set of scenes ranks as one of my favorites in the whole series! I love it because throughout Throne of Glass, even when she's being rescued from Endovier, Celaena projects power and strength--especially mental strength. But in these scenes, she is clearly on the edge of giving up, and has to find something within herself to make her want to keep going. Even the encouragement from Chaol and Nehemia's help wouldn't be enough if she didn't WANT it.
Do you agree? What are your favorite scenes, and what do they say about Celaena?
How did everyone feel about Nehemia at first? I admit that when we first meet her, I liked her a lot less than Celaena does. But then she grew on me . . . (and without giving anything away, I appreciated her importance to the events of the rest of the series.)
"She became all too aware of the three long scars down her back. Even if she won her freedom . . . even if she lived in peace in the countryside . . . those scars would always remind her of what she'd endured. And that even if she was free, others were not."-chapter 4
"She would win. She'd win, and serve the king, and then vanish into nothing, and think no more of castles or kings or assassins. She didn't wish to reign over this city again. Magic was dead, the Fae were banished or executed, and she would never again have anything to do with the rise and fall of kingdoms. She wasn't fated for anything. Not anymore."
-chapter 6
Khadeja, you should check out another Bloomsbury author, Lucy Saxon. She has cosplayed as Celaena before and written about it on her tumblr.
Would love to see everyone's favorite quotes so far! I'll share some of mine too.Edited to add: Since this is in the TOG Part 1 folder, it would be great if everyone shared quotes from the first half of Throne of Glass. Thanks!
I hope you're all enjoying digging in to Throne of Glass! What are your first thoughts about the book? Who are your favorite characters? If it's your first time, what do you like about the book so far? If you're re-reading, is it as awesome as you remembered?(Remember, there are many here who are reading for the first time. Please tag any spoilers, and please don't give any spoilers for Heir of Fire. Your fellow fans and I appreciate it!)
I have a feeling both guys will have other adventures for a while. With three more books, I'm guessing their road back to all being together will be long and rough. As I'm re-reading, I'm finding myself way more interested in Dorian than I was the first time around. I really took him at face value back then and now, knowing what happens in Crown, I feel like there's more to him.
If this is your second (or third or fourth or millionth) re-read of Throne of Glass, what are you looking forward to experiencing again? I know that I'm excited to re-read any and every mention of Sam!(Note: Spoilers about any of the PUBLISHED books in the series are okay in this thread. If you have read an early ARC of HEIR OF FIRE, you are very lucky! Please be considerate of your fellow readers and avoid any HEIR OF FIRE spoilers.)
If you're new to the Throne of Glass series, what are you expecting from the book?(Note to those who are re-reading: Please keep this thread spoiler-free out of respect for your fellow readers. Thanks!)
