5/5! Almost immediately, I fell in love with Alessandra and Kallias! I would love to follow the lives of these two indefinitely. I never read reviews on books before I read them and I now see that some people did not like this book. Why the heck not?! It was adventurous, mysterious, laugh out loud funny at times, and just the right amount of romance! If I could give The Shadows Between Us more than five stars I would! I so hope she has other books that are the same style. If she does, then I have found another favorite author!
5/5I really enjoyed listening to this book. I feel like most teens will also enjoy it with its mystery, magic, adventure, and touch of romance it’s a win/win. Can’t wait for the next one!
3/5I listened to this book last year and rated it a three star but honestly I don't remember why. I don't remember much about it other than I enjoyed the narrator's voice.
4.5/5What a great audiobook! I loved all of the characters and felt like I really knew them by the end of the book. I want more!
4.5/5This was a fun book to listen to. Several pieces of different stories added to one book! Gang wars, Romeo and Juliet, Frankenstein, Jekyll and Hyde, etc. Crazy but so good! I think teens will love this.
3.5/5This book was pretty good to listen to but I felt like Margot got too emotional too fast for having never known her family before. It made it seem like the book was rushed. I think teens will like the mystery.
3/5Okay so this is a good beating the odds survival book. I laughed out loud a few times and cried more than once. But, I have a problem with with it. There is so much that happens to Ashley that is just totally not believable. I don’t want to give anything away but the main thing that annoyed me is that there is no way she didn’t pass out, not once, with all that she went through. It’s one thing to make her a tough girl but come on, be believable. Grown macho men would’ve passed out with half the things that happened to her. Anyway, that’s why I gave it three stars.
4/5So, I debated on what rating to give this book. Some parts I didn’t car for like the little jabs at political stuff when this book had nothing to do with that so why put it in there? Had it been a political subject fine add whatever you want.
Anyway, asides from that I thought it was an interesting book and honestly it hit home. A few members of my family, including myself, have gone to doctors with problems only to have test run that came out normal so we felt like the doctors didn’t believe we were really feeling bad or whatever. Same exact thing. Exercise more, lose weight, eat this not that, blah, blah, blah! I could really relate to the main character and I know there are teens out there who feel like their doctors, parents, and others around them just don’t understand them. I think this book may help them realize they are not alone and may even give them the courage to speak up about how they are really feeling.
3/5Okay so this book starts off gross. It could have been written just as good (better in my opinion) if it would have left out the period stuff. Seriously? Disgusting. No one wants to read that mess. I almost stopped reading it thinking if the beginning of the book started out that gross it could only get worse but I kept on because I hate stopping a book, even if I don't like it.
I didn't mind the 2nd person point of view and I love retellings of classics so I was really hoping to love this but the grossness in it can not allow me to give it more than a 3 star.guys will most definitely not want to read this book!! It could’ve hit both guys and gals had only it just not been so detailed with the personal stuff. Whhhhy?!
5/5What a viewpoint that opened my eyes to the minds and struggles of those in foster care, especially those who age out in foster care. I cried and laughed right along with Muir. Such a great story.
I think it would benefit teens to read this and gain an inner perspective of being a child in foster care. The struggles, the insecurities, the everyday battles of just being.
4.5/5 Wow. Such a powerful book I think would benefit any young girl to read, if only to get a sense of some dangers to look out for. My adult self was so saddened to see the unaware innocence of the young ladies being victimized. My teen self would have probably been taken in just like all of the others. I would like to say it wouldn’t have went so far but who knows? Girls are so impressionable and in such need of feeling loved and being paid attention to by someone older would be tempting enough but someone famous? A sad hard truth of young ladies, especially those of minority race, not being taken seriously just makes me so mad.
