When I'm stressed I usually go back to the books I used to read when I was a child. In particular, a series that's basically witchy cottagecore before cottagecore was a thing and it's extremely cozy and comforting (it's called Fairy Oak but I have no idea if it was translated into English or not), or any of the books by Bianca Pitzorno (again, not sure if they were ever translated in English, but one of my faves is one that's basically Les Mis and Jane Eyre fanfic).
In the past... Year? I've been getting more and more into non fiction, especially fashion history and queer history stuff!
I don't usually make playlists for books (I do for fanfic lol), but I usually try to find a playlist made by others that fit with I'm reading. It's easier when I'm reading historical novels because you can just google the period and something will come up, but you'd be surprised by the extremely specific playlist people make aahahah. My fave graphic novel has an extensive playlist of music you can listen to while reading it, and it's one of the reasons I love it so much. I read it the second time while listening and I was *weeping* when I reached the end lol
It's normal, Gee! I have ~50 books I want to read, but there are also the ones that I want to re-read, and I don't have the time and the headspace for more than one book at a time, and it's frustrating lolEspecially because it's enough that I person I trust will tell me "I loved this book!" for me to add it to my tbr 😅
I remember reading about it and thinking that it was freaking weird ahahahahI haven't read it because I don't think I'll ever be mentally ready tbh
Ooooh I read The House of Silk, but I think I did in middle school or early high school and I can't remember what I think about it lol
I love historical fashion, so I'm biased, but "How to read a dress" is nice, although it's a bit... Cold in delivering everything? I know it has to be because it's non fiction, but I've read other nonfiction books that were more lively lol.The Office of Historical corrections sounds interesting!!
Oooh Persepolis! It's been in the back of my mind as a "maybe read in the future", but I've never picked it up.Graphic novels made me excited for reading again when I was going through a slump in December/January so yours is a good choice ☺️
(If you need graphic novels recs I'm right here👀)
Right now I'm "How to read a dress", which is a non fiction book about how to read dresses silhouettes from the 16th century to the 1970s.
I feel like I'm learning new things, but it's a bit cold, being non fiction, and I feel like I'm in the mood for a story rn.
I'm reading The Watchmaker of Filigree Street after Enea's recommendation, and I'm loving it so far!!
