After watching this movie we watched vampire academy and my husband declared he's not watching anymore movies with me that I have read the book because he claims I'm never happy. I told him that those two movies were the worst examples. Hunger games, Twilight, Harry Potter, Hobbit and Lord of the Rings weren't bad.
I did too, my husband listened to me rant and was super patient with the million times I paused the movie to explain what was missing or what was wrong. lol
Yes I meant the first one. I'm interested in seeing the second one. At first I didn't like whom they casted as Tris because she was so annoying in the life of an American Teenager, but I thought she did a good job.
Honestly I agree she really had no where else to go, but I hated the ending. I felt that Tris wasn't making good decisions, she as a character was expected to grow stronger, considering everything she discovered and went through, and instead I felt she was backsliding. I figured things out before she did. I prefer Katniss in HG, at least she's not an idiot.
I find it interesting that there are warnings. Do you think there is possibility in our near future? lol
The TV show Gilmore Girls has a beloved character named Rory who in every episode is reading and referencing different books. If you are a fan of the show I invite you to join me and read her impressive 339 list of books. Here is a link to the complete 339 Gilmore Book Challenge list.

We find out several things about Luke in the Prologue. What characteristics are apparent when he’s a young boy that are also quite obvious when he’s an adult?Because Luke had gotten several packs of wolves to accept him as a bona fide member, some people thought he was a genius; some though he was insane. What was your initial assessment? Did you change your mind? What event makes Cara first realize why her father couldn’t break free of the wolf community? Do you think you’d feel the same?
Georgie says of her children, “You may never admit it out loud, but the one you love the most is the one who needs you more desperately than his siblings.” (p. 271) Do you agree? Discuss why and how she favors each of her children at different points in the novel. How does it affect her relationship with Joe to be on the other side of the aisle during the hearing?
I find the rules different so far. They don't change anything when they go to the past. Most time travel stories affect the future. I haven't finished the book yet, but I already find the book slightly hard to follow.
What caught my attention about the book was that it was written by a local author from my current neighborhood, but what sparked my interest was the rumor that the author changed the rules of time travel. Did you find this to be true?
I've been reading it so far in bed at night and I have to admit that my dreams have been odd lately. Lol.
Discuss the many biblical references in the book, particularly those that make up the chapter titles—East of Eden, All the Host of Hell, Where There is Sorrow, Sins of the Fathers, etc. Do these chapter headings add to the actions that take place in the chapters they begin? Why do you think the author chose so many quotes from the Bible? Is the Bible important in the lives of any of the characters?
Some readers have complained about the inconsistency of the narrative voice, that it was perhaps too sophisticated for a young boy, even an adolescent? Do you agree, or disagree? Does the narrative voice change during the course of the novel?
