1160953 DO NOT COMMENT IN THIS THREAD

If you want to post your writing, please review these rules:

- Only one piece of writing every three days. Once three days have passed since you last posted, you can share something else.

- Share your story through a link, not copy pasting. Posting a long story into a chat will slow everything down. If you use Google Docs, be sure to have the share settings as "Anyone on the internet with the link can view/comment." If you already posted this on the Goodreads Creative Writing section, give us the link to that page. If your story is on another platform, download it and the link paste it here. This will help everyone access your work.

- When asking people to edit (you are welcome to just let us read, and we can comment instead. It all depends on what you're comfortable with), please tell us what you want. Heavy edits? (grammar, line-by-line edits, along with big things like plot and flow) Light edits? (general comments about large issues) Or are you okay with anything? Please specify in your post, or we won't know what to give.

- If you want people to read your work, then you have to read other people's. Whenever you have time, read through some other stories. You don't have to spend hours on one post, but just give general feedback. It will help that person, and maybe afterward they'll read your work.

- When giving feedback: be nice. It's not hard. Find something you like about the story, then give suggestions. If you don't have anything good to say, then don't say it.

- Have fun! Reading other people's work is fun and inspiring. Don't be afraid to post your story. We'll read it, and tell you what we liked. If you have any questions, ask me in the Suggestions/Questions thread.

1160953 No idea, Twilight is on my TBR list. My friends LOVE the whole series, but I'm a little skeptical. No book with a rating of 3.61 is ever that good.

Reading short stories?

1160953 I've been reading Girls of Paper and Fire. It's decent, although the writing style is getting a tad annoying. Everything is overly dramatic and the author wastes time on describing useless things. Other than that, pretty good so far. 3/5 stars.

1160953 Here, you can ask me for a new tab, which will be titled "Your Name's (insert title of story/book here)". This is a topic about ONE story or book, not multiple. You can ask for people's thoughts and suggestions about ideas, plot, characters, and pretty much anything that has to do with your story of choice. Go in-depth into the story. Analyze everything from character traits to overall theme.

Warning: this is not a place to post all your writing. Limit writing to 2,000 words in one link, an excerpt of a longer story (or, if your story is less than 2,000 words, you may post the entire piece). This is a group discussion, and when you ask for this chat, have specific questions to ask group members.
When you finish the discussion, ask me IN THIS CHAT to delete the thread. If you message me in another topic, I might not see it. If the topic goes one month without any activity, I will delete it.

Have fun!

Yeah, thats a good idea. I don't know why this didn't pop up in my notifications, sorry about that.

Wow yeah your summers are short...

I get three months off, compared to your 1 and 1/2 months. I feel bad for you.

Welcome. It always sucks to be the only reader and writer within a group of friends. That's why you can make new ones here.

Hmm I've never had this problem before. I just... outline my plot and fill in the characters if I need them. Remember that less is more. Think about why you need this character exactly. Can you combine 2 people into one?
I would look up character traits and assign them to your blank characters. Also, find bad habits, strengths and weaknesses for each one to make them unique.

1160953 I've been very busy lately submitting to dozens of publishing magazines. I have found that most magazines have a wait period of 2-4 months before responding. Because I am extremely impatient, I obviously didn't like that. So I found a few magazines with VERY quick response times. These are some of the fastest in the industry. If you ever want to get published, submit your work to some of these places.

24 hour response time.

Around two week response time.

1-2 week response time.

The following magazines respond within a month:
