Marcy… thanks for the podcast suggestion! I added it to my queve… idk how if ever pick 3 books either 😬 Monite… it’s Dirt by Mary Marantz! It was on sale on kindle a couple of weeks ago, so I picked it up but haven’t started it yet!
Anyone ever feel the need to “declutter” their want to read shelf? 😂 I started to, and it’s so interesting to see the evolution of my reading preferences from when I first joined goodreads in 2013 to now 😂😂
I noticed Prime Reading has a lot of classics available. I know I read some in high school, but maybe would appreciate them more as an adult. So, where should I start? What are your favorite classics!?
I ended up picking the psychological thriller and the memoir because I really am a sucker for those two genres 😂😂 But I could have easily picked two more!
If you Google “Amazon first reads” they page with the selections should come up. I don’t remember if I had to activate it as a part of my membership or not though.
You get a free early release kindle book every month! (Sometimes two!) they usually have 10 you can choose from of varying genres. I like it because it gives me the chance to find new authors!
Anyone else a prime member that takes advantage of First Reads? We get to pick two books this month and I’m having such a hard time deciding!
Anyone else ever pre-order a book, forget that you did, and then have a pleasant surprise when you see it in your kindle!? 😂😂 Went to buy the book Sharon recommended yesterday and realized, I already had 🙈🙈🙈
400 Souls The Color of Law
Both were very eye opening! I’m definitely going to check out your suggestions, Claudia!
I’m only 23% in on The Love Songs of W.E.B. Du Bois, but am really enjoying it so far and have to force myself to go to sleep at night! Fair warning, it is a long book.
Hahaha! That makes me feel better because I’ve been the same way! I honestly don’t think it entails much, because I trust that our governerds will keep discussions respectful. I think I’m just uncomfortable with having a “leadership” title 😂😂😂
I should have known my fellow governerds would understand! 🥰 I’m definitely guilty of worrying too much sometimes! 😂
Love it!! I will happily adopt you as our Goodreads Mum 😂 Since you’ve been on Goodreads since it’s inception, would it be ok if I make you a moderator? I’m still very new to the “group” section on goodreads and would love to share the title with someone with more experience 😂
Sorry for being the weirdo who friended/followed everyone in the group, lol. My logic was the more people I follow, the more exposure I have to books I may want to read and since books are my happy place, it totally made sense in my mind before I thought about how creepy it may make me look! haha. Carry on, and have a wonderful weekend everyone!
Ohh definitely going to add Moloka’i to my list! Killers of the Flower Moon was fascinating! I hated how little I knew before that book. That book actually led me to read a biography of J. Edgar Hoover… very long but crazy how one man obtained so much power!
Empire of Pain is on my list to read!
I was on a Marius Gabriel kick earlier this year! Read three of his books, all different perspectives of WWII! I also really enjoyed both of Sejal Badani’s books. They focus on Indian culture and the colonization of India. TRIGGER WARNING however, one incorporates miscarriage, and the other sexual assault.
