I've just got to the beginning chapter of the Sibyl Vane storyline and I always find it SO frustrating how badly she is treated by the book, not just the characters in it obviously, but the narrative. She had so much potential to pack a big emotional punch and it just seems like a wasted opportunity

I always forget quite how many famous quotes attributed to Wilde are said by Lord Henry in just these two chapters! certainly lends itself to underlining lots, though I wouldn't do that to my nice clothbound edition

I'm Claudia. I run the booktube channel Spinster's Library and am hosting this readalong with Jacqueline. I have read Dorian Gray many times previously, though not for a few years now. It's my favourite Victorian novel to read and to criticise.

This thread is for those who have read Dorian Gray previously to discuss the entire book before, during, and after the readalong - THERE WILL BE SPOILERS.
