1183614 @bri i agree that the book was entirely plot based. i didn’t feel like there was any character growth and i didn’t feel attached to any of the characters other than just generally hoping that ben was alive and that jess didn’t die trying to find him

1183614 no me completely forgetting that it was saturday, don’t mind me! i actually liked the first half lol but then took a break before reading the second half and had a bit of a hard time getting back into it. but then it picked up and so much happened! i would have bet money that ben was not alive to be honest, but i am glad he was! throughout the book i think multiple times the characters were saying things like “that can’t be ben, it would be impossible” so i was so sure that he was dead but it makes sense now knowing that everyone thought he was dead👀

overall, i did like it! i thought the ending was unexpected and i thought that it read really fast paced. i also felt hooked very early on. i thought jess was very brave for sticking around to help her brother even though everyone was extremely suspect and there were red flags all around. i gave it a 4/5 and would recommend it to someone who enjoys thrillers!

1183614 i thought jess avoided going to the police because of her past troubles in the US. sounds like she possibly ran from a crime she did there and didn’t want to be recognized 😭 still frustrating because like it’s her brother’s life as risk! idk lol

1183614 @marisol yes agree i don’t think he told the police the whole truth 😪 for sure

1183614 like Nick doesn’t seem like the murderous type but maybe the type to cover up for his family. we’ll see tho!!!!! lmao

1183614 oh yes i think they’re all in on it, too! like maybe one of them murdered him but they are all for sure covering for them 🥲
