1191282 I didn’t love the book.

It wasn’t a “cannot put this down” kind of book for me. I really had to slog through it. I found it a bit wordy. If it wasn’t for this book club, I probably wouldn’t have finished it. I felt like it just took too long to get to the point, and I dislike feeling that way about a book.

I will admit though, I’ve never had such an emotional reaction to a book. In the beginning when it seemed as though she was cheating on her husband and destroying her family, it made me truly upset and angry. I do have a child similar in age to Emma’s daughter, so perhaps that’s why.

Jill still feeling bad about Emma’s one night stand 20 years later seemed far fetched.

The ending was also a little anti-climatic for me.

All in all, not a book I would recommend to a friend. It’s a story that would probably make a better movie than a book in my opinion, and that’s not something I say lightly.
