1192882 The writing style was nice. The pacing of the main story was slow until somewhere around the end, I agree. However the side stories told by Conchis, especially the one in Norway and the one during the Nazi occupation were really good imo. I love that you don't know who or what to trust in this book, and it gets more and more fucked up. Also loved the descriptions of Greece.

Very unique, not as confusing as people say it is, because it's pretty clear when the story is meant to confuse you as it does the main character. And then consider, would it really drive the message home if the story was clarified at the end? Would Conchis' smile and attitude really carry the same weight if we found out all about him? In a way, the power in this book lies in its ability to deceive.

It seems pretty relevant, Conchis' masque is like the world of only lies.
