Second Impressions: A Pride and Prejudice Variation by Amy George is FREE - today only (Friday, Dec. 1). It's the first day of the Meryton Press Advent Calendar - treats and giveaways leading up to Christmas!
Elaine Owen book set during the French Revolution is on sale for 99¢ at Amazon: Elizabeth and the Fleur de Lys: A Pride and Prejudice Variation
I have a favorite author who's squarely in the "Not Jane But Really Good" category. A.E. Walnofer's historical fiction novels are interesting, well-written, and unpredictable. I recommend any and all of her books -
With Face Aflame
The Whitehall Romances Series:
A Girl Called Foote
A Governess of Sorts
Such Vexing Creatures
And one I just discovered and have yet to read: Out of the Bower: A Durbin Family Novel
She's really talented but, like many indie authors, she doesn't get enough visibility.
Mark your calendars! Jennifer Joy just announced that Fitzwilliam Darcy, Traitor will be FREE November 19 thru the 23. (Sunday through Thursday, ending Thanksgiving Day in the U.S.)
The book has 4+ star ratings in both GoodReads and Amazon.
Is there a new platform to download books from www.fanfiction.net? It used to have a separate Downloader program I was using, but it's stopped working.
Okay - what do I do now to get a book added on GoodReads? I went to the GoodReads Librarian group per the direction at the beginning of this thread - https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/220.However, I'm not sure what to do from there. Do I have to join that group to make a request to add a book?
Praying that the killing will stop sooner rather than later, both in Israel and in Ukraine - I feel compassion for everyone in both countries.
LOVE it! Especially with longer stories, it's nice to be able to read books on my kindle. Formatting is sometimes a little wonky, but not anything that affects the flow of your reading. As far as I know, it only works for fanfiction.net
J. W. wrote: "Another fanfic is complete: Warning: check your heart medications before starting this one. Many abandoned it due to the OOC behavior. However, it is not what it seems. I don't want to give a spoil..."Thanks for the recommendation, Jeanne - and for the warning, too. I just finished it. Wowza!!
Christina, I've been following your story since the first installment was posted and just finished the last before I checked into GoodReads this morning. So glad you followed your writing muse and didn't stop at the originally intended 2-3 installments! Often modern P&Ps don't quite hit the mark for me, but "Strokes of Inelegance" is a winner! Hope you go ahead and publish it. Thanks for giving austenvariations.com readers the freebie! ❤️
Liz Treacher, who was a member in this group and wrote The Wrong Envelope, which has some P&P vibes, just released a new book called Vegan Recipes for New Age Men. This lady can write!! Beautiful, haunting descriptions of Scotland in the area around Loch Fleet and a marvelous story.
J. W. wrote: "$0.99 deal. Note from the author: "This book was written to help raise Alzheimer's Awareness and proceeds from this book will be donated to the Alzheimer's Association."I bought it but it will be..."
I have never been impressed by this author, but I admire her support for this cause, and I bought it. Thanks for spreading the word, Jeanne. I'm sorry this hits so close to home for you. ❤️
Sophia wrote: "Yes, its okay to do the review, but Amazon doesn't want the disclosure in the review itself..."I'm confused. I've cut-and-pasted many of my full reviews from GoodReads to Amazon that included my disclaimer at the end when I receive a free copy, and I'm not aware of any having been rejected. I've also submitted more than one review in the same day and haven't had any issues.
I do find the gap between my submission and the actual posting to vary widely - sometimes it's just minutes, and other times it's more than a week. Maybe those that take longer to appear are getting additional scrutiny and eventually"pass" whatever screening Amazon does?
Sorry to hear others are having ongoing issues with this.

Danielle, thank you so much for acting as our group's personal librarian for so long. You are a gem!
Craftyhj wrote: "I do hope that those of you living in the heatwave areas of the world right now are keeping safe and cool. Perhaps it is wise to stay off the spicier variations for now just in case ... happy readi..."Craftyhj, it is definitely beyond hot here in Florida. Staying in AC from late morning to early evening, but it's super humid even early morning and late at night, so it's really never comfortable outside!
Sam wrote: "Thank you for the links. You guys are awesome! I love your music and sound."
Thank you, Sam!
Sam wrote: "Do you have any youtube snippets we can hear your music? "Nothing on YouTube, but my husband (Kurt) put some tracks on our website: www.brownsoundmusic.com
There are 4 tracks on the home page and some others on Kurt's page (you can get to that link by clicking on his name under his pic in the upper right hand corner).
Full disclosure: We built that website about 15 years ago and haven't updated any of the photos since then - we're both a lot grayer now!
If you're interested, there's more info on my musical background and some vintage rock and roll shots of my husband and me taken when we were in our 20s in an old posting on austenvariations from 2018. Nicole Clarkson set me up with Joanna Starnes, and we interviewed each other virtually: https://austenvariations.com/intervie...
