120538 Great North Road by Peter F. Hamilton For me, I have several things going. I'm actually reading the Great North Road which is a pretty decent mix of mystery and science fiction. I'm really enjoying it, but it's starting to drag a bit about 3/4 of the way through. I'm hoping that something picks up. I think the issue is that they've built up suspense and mystery and I'm starting to feel that the answers to all those questions are going to be uninteresting.

Allegiant (Divergent, #3) by Veronica Roth In my car, I just happened to pick up Allegiant by Veronica Roth which is just alright. I loved Divergent, but the two after that are just not nearly as interesting. I actually find Allegiant to be slightly annoying in it's presentation of a fairly complex topic (genetic alteration), but it's alright. It seems like it will be a solid 3/5.

Jun 03, 2014 02:29PM

120538 Hello! Just as a quick notice, the summer reading for the adults in West Branch has begun! This year we're encouraging reading as well as earning marks on your card for things like writing, learning languages, and taking courses. For full details, take a look at www.wbpl.org/srp. This year's prizes for the adults include an iPad Mini and a Kueurig K140.

Also, please encourage your friends/relatives/neighbors to join the group and to sign up for the summer programs and please do post what you're reading this summer! I know I can always use suggestions!

120538 I don't know a lot about Charles Lindbergh, but I'm a bit surprised about how the book portrays him. Has anyone read other books about him or know from other means if he is as the book shows him? He seems like a pretty unlikable guy so far.

My Mom read that to us too, but had trouble making it through one of the ending parts. I don't remember the parts of the book very well, but the ending made her cry for some reason. I do remember it being really funny though.

I have no idea what Christmas book to discuss either, though I'll definitely be there. Finished a couple Stephen King books a bit ago - they're Christmasy, right?
