I just finished reading Babel. It was not exactly what I thought since it was a lot of info about the origin of words, but well written & glad I read it. Also finished listening to Kindred by Octavia Butler on Libby. That was very eye opening on the life of a slave in the south.
Currently listening to Where the Crawdads Sing. Usually I read the book first, but saw the movie and had not
read/listened to the book yet so glad I have gotten to this one.
Need to pick my next read since I always have a book I am reading and an audiobook going at the same time.
I just finished The Nightingale. Normally this would not be a book I wanted to read because the topic haunts me, but I couldn’t put it down. Finished it in three days. So well written.
I can only read her books occasionally because I don’t like reading books that make me cry.
Welcome!I’m not sure how I could pick one. I read so many genres.
I do like historical romance, science fiction & mysteries, but if I had to pick one it would be apocalyptic.
My son grave me The Atlas Six by Olivie Blake. He is hoping I finish it before he heads back to college so he can read it next. There is a second book also. I am sucked in so it won’t be a problem finishing before he leaves. Magic/fantasy. Very good character development.
I just started SALT by Colin F Barnes. Apocalypse type book. I already can’t put it down. I was reading The Witcher and then watched season 1 episode 1 which I enjoyed.
46% of the way through Game of Thrones on audio. Love the narrator. Keep having to put it on hold since it’s long & I keep running out of time while listening to it.
I just finished Holidaze on audio which was cute. Now almost finished with Night Country. Working on The Witcher still, but found out I am reading book 1.5 instead of the first book. Ha ha
I am still reading the same romance as last week. I need to think of a way to increase my reading time. Usually I plow through books, but it has slowed since Covid. You would think it would have increased since we have more time at home.
Congratulations to the winners! What a nice positive thing for them to win the contests during these stressful times.
Thank you for keeping us updating us on the available services. We have been on Covid quarantine after my teenage daughter got it. Even though I’ve had all this extra time I have had a hard time concentrating on reading.
I just picked up something that doesn’t require a lot of concentration. Where Winter Finds You by J.R. Ward.
Thank you so much for running the program. Even if I don’t always comment, it still brings me so much joy to be part of the group. I am finishing Paul Tremblay’s Survivor Song which will probably be my last book of 2020.
Right now I am reading too many college essays for my son during application season. Ha ha. Seasonal reading is fun, but I don’t limit myself to reading those types of books just in season. Sometimes it’s fun to read a snowy, Christmas book in the hot summer.
Right now I am reading Borne by Jeff Vandarmeer. He wrote the Annihilation trilogy which I loved.
Enjoy the fall weather everyone!
I’m reading Dead Astronauts by Jeff Vandermeer. He also wrote the Annihilation trilogy. I’m enjoying the book, but also feel like it’s deeper then what I am actually reading on the page. Not sure if that makes sense. I follow him Twittet and he posts all nature and animal photos/videos from his backyard which he lets grow wild.
I also switch to watching a series on tv or listen to an audiobook if I am in a reading slump. Or read magazines since it feels like a success to finish one still, but has shorter reading material. Also sometimes I’ll switch to reading a cookbook. How do you like reading ARC books?
I just started American Dirt to see what the hype was about. I’ve been alternating between a quick read like a romance and then something more in depth. It keeps me reading more & the quick read help if my mind is on overload because of Corona Virus.
I am reading The Invited by Jennifer McMahon. It’s a little scary since I don’t like books with ghosts. I’m reading in the daytime only even though it actually isn’t as scary as I thought. I went to the DAV & purchased about 7 books so I have that pile plus what is left in my library pile.
Still listening to Stephen King’s second book in The Gunslinger series.
Halfway though?! It went so fast. I am also behind on reading, but not letting it stress me out. June was a good reading month and I enjoyed so many books.
June’s highlight was also the library opening back up! I’ve been there a few times already. The search for books is half the fun.
