I agree about the yggdrasil though I only caught it once or twice as "the". the chapters were OK still slow moving. I'm coming to realize that this story is more telling us actions than showing and that the characters aren't the once moving the story, rather the story is moving them making them seem less than what they could be. but I'm still enjoying the myths. though I feel that the twins never hearing of hekate before is weird but that is probably just me. and I'm not find of bastet. I kinda like her in mythology but for the story I think she's kinda ..bad..not in the sense of being bad. but her character isn't anything her voice (much like many other characters) are flat. though if j ever read the others I would hope that they get better ....
OK so...these chapters had more "action" in them. and were a little more interesting. Mythology is my thing so having more myths or people from myths in them (gods/goddesses etc) were interesting. like seeing them rather than hearing about them. I liked Scathach she seems cool as a character, though I keep seeing her as older than she is..uhmm the twins are a tad annoying and taking this way too calmly and are way too quite to be two curious teens..also the author has a tendancy to repeat things such as what they're pare ts do, that they're twins etc. as if he's trying to elude to their greatness by pounding useless stuff into your brain... :/
OK I read the first six chapters. I like it but the writing is definitely for someone much younger, because of the writing and details given? it just has that feelinh. it moves quickly though. the twins are important but I feel they won't realize it until later books. I already like Perry though she won't have a large role I'm feeling. I think if it was a rainy afternoon this book would be good and for what its worth it is a decent read. it starts slow though even with that "battle" that goes on. and the info dump is a bit much I felt myself skimming rather than reading but that could also be because of the ages for the book? which reminds me the author dates himself a lot with this book. just saying.
So hopefully you don't kill me. I know you want to Rage-quit this book club, but I really hope you reconsider :DWell anyway. I feel that I really liked Nora, a lot, I felt she was a good grounding force for the books. And I agree with Allie, though she should not have slept with him if she knew she would distance herself.. But whatevs. And Violet is interesting. I thought it pretty funny how Allie didn't know who Violet was, though Zay did.
Cody:
I was ecstatic that he was alive, and well with kitten. Until he flipped out, and ran like that and disappeared like out of nowhere, with Bonnie. Why? It's frustrating...
Violet:
I liked her, not sure if there should be any trusting, because Zay isn't really delving into his secrets either, and I don't fully trust him either.
Also Zay getting his "high" because of the lack of magic was pretty funny.
Yeah... James (the only one so far NOT named Boy) is totally the bad Snake man, and the one who's after Allie.Allie's Dad:
Yeah Bonnie is way cray-cray and needs to calm down..or die. And I concur that Allie's dad dying does realy suck, but at the same time I feel that the emotion behind it was strong, but also pretty confusing or laid on thick. I mean I get it, been there and all that, though I haven't hated anyone that much. It still kinda felt like it was out of character or something strange.
Cody:
I was sooo freaking happy that Kitten was alive, I can't even express it in words!! <3
And I am very very glad that they decided to go to Nora's and the author not just throw Nora in there as best friend fodder, just to show that the heroine has a best friend that we never meet :D
OMG I have written this at LEAST three times, I hope it stays.OKAY!
So I really like this story alot. Especially how it starts out, the suspense, intrigue, and plot come together nicely, and really draw me in. Though this is the first in the series, I feel it is a fantastic start, and it is paced very well.
Allie:
I like her character, she does what she feels is right. Even if it means leaving her father and his fortune for it. Though if she could just keep said fortune, and do something productive with it instead of being estranged from her father, I think she would have helped many more people but whatevs.
Cody:
He's totally one of my favorite characters, though his back-story is vague, I really like how you can really feel his pain. Though his adult/child mentality, dual personality thing is pretty confusing. i like that he does what he feels is right, and that he does what is needed to save what he loves.
Mama:
I think she's pretty kick-ass,but I agree that she is distancing herself from the boys by calling them "Boy", as it is more of a thing than a person.
Zayvion:
I have to agree in that at first I was very confused with what he looked like, he was the only one I had problems trying to figure out. Not really sure if I like him or not, but we'll see.
