Just finished my last big book for the challenge - The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. Loved it! Highly recommend. It is a book about a book, a story about stories. The writing was so beautiful and mesmerizing - I couldn't put it down! Thanks, Sue, for hosting Big Book Summer, it really motivated me to read more big books.
Recently finished 2 books:The Winners by Fredrik Backman - Good ending to the Beartown trilogy - lots of characters and storylines to wrap up.
City of Girls by Elizabeth Gilbert - Didn't know anything about this one going in, but I was totally immersed in the story and finished it fast. Five star read for me!
Just finished Still Life by Sarah Winman. Beautifully written with wonderful scenes of life in Italy. For me it was a slow read, but I loved the characters and found family.
I just finished 11/22/63 and loved it! Stephen King knows how to weave a compelling story. Loved the bittersweet love story and the nostalgia of the late 50's and early 60's.
I finished the second book in the Poldark series, which is just over 400 pages, at the end of May. My next big book will be 11/22/63 by Stephen King. Then I would l like to get to The Winners by Fredrik Backman, which is the third book in the Beartown trilogy.
