I just finished The Short and Tragic Life of Robert Peace. It barely makes it as a big book but is 402 pages long. A very intense and sad story about a young man with great potential who died well before his time. Although you will question many of his decisions, you will be rooting for him every inch of the way. Recommended.
I finished my planned August big book. Fellowship Point by Alice Elliott Dark. 576 pages. This book very much spoke to me, although I found it to be a book to take your time with. Beautiful writing and descriptions of the Maine coast and coastal communities. The main characters both resonated well with me. In the present day story (2000), they are 80 years old but continuing to evolve. The story is more than a story of protection of the Maine land. It tells the story of these two ladies and their lifelong friendship. Recommend.

Finished The Great Believers by Rebecca Makkai-418 pages. So much to think about after reading this amazing book. Definitely recommend.

Finished my July big book which was The Magus by John Fowles (656 pages). I received this book in a book club book exchange and had targeted it for summer reading even before this contest. What a roller coaster of a ride. It’s the tale of a psychological mind game being played by one man to another in the 1950’s, mostly in Greece. At times I could not read fast enough-at others, I was disturbed and “creeped out.” The perfect book for this challenge. I’d rate it 3.5 (which is a good rating from me-just not quite a 4). I would recommend.

Just finished my first big book for the challenge. I Have Some Questions for You by Rebecca Makkai. (435 pages). Despite mixed reviews, I thought I was all in until the end. There was no real ending to the book which frustrated me. However, she’s a good writer and I would read other books by her.
Excited for this challenge. Summer is the best time for Big Books. I am hoping to get through 3 big books this summer. My choices are:I Have Some Questions for You by Rebecca Makkai
The Magus by John Fowler
Fellowship Point by Alice Elliott Dark
