I liked the different spin on WW2 - although this same French story was introduced in the book Broken for You. I agree Julia's story was weak, particularly in the 2nd half when it became all about her. She wasn't a strong enough character to carry the rest of the book.

Last day to sign up for reading swap - just a friendly reminder. Thanks to all who have joined ;)

hi Sisters -
I finally got the reading round robin signups going:
http://litchick.typepad.com/mellymel/...Please join in!!

Rhi -Well, September will be here before you know it! So promise me you'll read it in August :)

hey gang - just as a head's up - i'm getting ready to sponsor a reading round robin on my blog next week. after i figure out who's interested, we'll be assigned groups (6 per group), you choose one book you own that you'd like to have others read. so you send yours and receive one until you get your book back 6 months later.
did that make sense?

Seriously -
The Hunger Games is the next Twilight. Not because it has vampires, but as far as breathtaking what's going to happen next. And the girl character is the total opposite of Bella - she's fierce! :)

It's probably easier to say what I don't like. Political books and non fiction. I don't love historical fiction, but every now and again it's okay. Not a fan of chick lit either. Maybe a couple times a year to break things up, but aren't all those stories the same?

Don't forget - there's no "failure" here if you don't meet your goal...the average person reads less than 4 books per year! I'm just glad to know so many bookworms.

I agree with Audrey - setting a number can be a trap, but I do have a lot of books on my to-read list and on my shelves that need some attention. I'll go with 100 for a number, but I'd like to read at least 2 a month that are on my list :)
