In the book "Departure" by A.G. Riddle, one of the main characters, Nick Stone, changes immensely throughout the book. In the beginning of the book, Nick doesn't know what to do with his life, and he is at a crossroads. Every day he is doing the same thing, and he mentions how he feels like he is reliving his life every day. He is presented with a great job opportunity that would change his life forever. But that all changes when Flight 305 crashes into the future. Nick instinctively takes charge and takes the lives of the passengers into his own hands. Throughout the book he changes greatly, protecting and leading the surviving victims back to the present day. He also prevents a catastrophe for his world that he sees in the future. In conclusion, Nick Stone changes in a great way in the book "Departure".
In the book, "The Kings of Clonmel" by John Flanagan, a main theme is that attempting to do everything yourself will just make the situation even worse. Will, the main character, is a Ranger for the king. He is constantly faced with life or death decisions, and sometimes he tries to please multiple people. This often backfires on him, putting his life in danger. For example, when Will and his two friends are captured by barbarian invaders, he attempts to help both of his friends. The two friends are on completely different parts of the camp, and Will is caught trying to save them both. This results in a near death situation for all of them. In conclusion, the main theme in my book is trying to do too many things at once will hurt the people around you as well as yourself.
In the book "Ranger's Apprentice: The Kings if Clonmel", there is a clear conflict. This conflict is man vs. evil. Will, the main character in this book, is a Ranger (similar to an assassin). He is constantly involved with evil, as he as defeated many enemies. Such as the Wargals, the Skandians, the Temujai riders, and he also repelled the Scotti invasion on the northern frontier of the kingdom. Without Will Treaty, the kingdom would not nearly be the same. As a legendary Ranger at a young age, he is constantly sent on missions to defeat evil around the kingdom. In conclusion, the main conflict in my current book is man vs. evil.
