hey, i’d like to comment on this topic-

yes, everyone has a right to free speech and their own opinions, which has been established, but there are limitations to that right. one limitation is that “fighting words” are not justifiable by law. the idea of fighting words is that they intentionally provoke other people to the point of violence. in this case, i think it’s clear that the things that he was saying angered people to the point of gun violence, further proving that what he said would be considered unlawful. see chaplinsky v. new hampshire for more information. another limitation of free speech is defamation, the idea of slander without proof of concept. i think this is clear with some of the rants that he’s gone on about black people and trans people. a direct quote from him is that black women “do not have the brain processing power to otherwise be taken really seriously.” i find this offensive, and also false, seeing as there is no evidence that supports this. while i don’t wish death upon anyone, i think this proves that he was not a “good” person.

also, faith, there’s a quote in your bio that i liked. it’s “The truth is like a lion; let it loose and it will defend itself.” i’ve told told the truth with these words, and now it’s truly up to you to accept them or not. also, i can understand the importance and value of christianity in your life, but using christianity as a reason to support hate speech doesn’t sit well with me, and i think you’d find that other people would agree. anyway, that’s my two cents <3
