125878 Guys, I am obsessed with this book! I absolutely loved it! I will definitely be asking Santa for this to add to my personal collection, and I'm so happy that I can read it online!

I am a huge Scott Pilgrim fan and I saw a lot of similarities between Superhero Girl and Scott Pilgrim, Yes, they both take place in Toronto (is there something in the water there giving everyone super powers?), but mostly I really liked the way they both blend traditional coming of age stories with superhero tropes. The tropes of both genres are blended together in such an amusing way and with such heart.

125878 I just finished this one and I really liked it too. It reminded me so much of "Angus, Thongs and Full-Snogging" (which I adore!!) except you know, with boys in America.

125878 One of my coworkers is about halfway through and she was like "If I have to read one more time about the king sitting on the toilet I am just going to snap!"

125878 Amy--I totally get what you mean. I hate when I can feel the author pulling the strings. I want to be so sucked into a story that I forget about the mechanics behind it.

125878 Devera--I appreciate your honesty. I didn't like this book either and I am so glad I am not the only one. The whole premise, while interesting, ended up feeling gimmicky to me. And the ending didn't feel earned--it felt too sudden and abrupt.

125878 Rebecca--that's a good question. I would say that it is more character-oriented. Though a lot is going on plotwise, the frequent shifts in perspective allow readers to learn a great deal about Ava and Midi (the two main characters) as well as many of the secondary characters.

125878 I really liked this book. I agree that it is definitely most appropriate for older teens though. I think that fans of books like George R.R. Martin’s Song of Ice and Fire series, Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers or Graceling by Kristin Cashore will totally dig it.
