Happy July everyone! How are we feeling about the book so far? I'm not a huge fan of the presentation of it. My favorite book of the challenge so far has definitely been the discussions from Epictetus, and I'm finding it really hard to enjoy the presentation of these other older philosophy books. Anyways, happy reading!
I know we're already near the end of the month, but I decided to read Fahrenheit 451 for the first time this month (great novel if you've never read it). Gonna start The Emperor of Gladness today, hearing a lot of good things about it!
Evita wrote: "if you have an audible membership, in the buddha's words is included for free as part of their member's catalogue. so you could do a free first month and listen to it there:) that's what i will be ..."oh damn i wished i had checked this out! i caved and bought a physical copy at my local barnes & noble for like $30 USD bc it was the last one they had.
Hey guys, this is a quick excerpt from my review of the book, and I just wanted to share it to see if anyone feels the same way and if I'm properly interpreting things.~~~~~
Since this was pretty much my first experience with this type of book, it felt pretty dense and hard to understand, but here's what I grasped from it: let things run their course. Lao Tzu talks of a sort of laissez-faire attitude for life. This idea of natural order is at the forefront of a lot of it. He is essentially saying "There is a natural order to the universe, so work alongside it."

Also, has anyone figured out how pewds is gonna know if we read the books? I don't think I've gotten any emails since I signed up. This is my first time reading anything independently (outside of school-required texts) since I was like 10, so I really don't wanna be on the list of shame lol. Thanks in advance guys and I can't wait to discuss next month's book with you guys! :)
