126199 Following months of trying to decide what to do with my back catalog of unpublished novels, I’ve finally made the leap. After turning out five books through independent small presses, I’ve plunged headfirst into the world of self-publishing!

I’m thrilled to let everyone know that I’ve just released the first book of a brand new series. Check out my latest young adult, action/adventure, thriller…Savage Hills in paperback and on Kindle.

While The Savage Horde Series is still my kind of classic outdoorsy adventure fiction, it's not as much about wilderness survival as survival in general. So I’ve gone a slightly different direction. You guys are about to read something that’s a bit more Science Fiction than anything I’ve done before. It’s not hugely SciFi, but futuristic enough to definitely let you know that it’s something a little different—not to mention the introduction of some pretty cool, spooky antagonists. Add in some ‘trapped behind enemy lines’ action and a hint at a dystopian society, and you’ll find all the stuff I love in a story.

I won’t make you wait too long for the sequel. I promise. Be on the lookout for Cold Valley sometime this summer, possibly by the end of June. Until then, hang on for dear life as you enjoy your epic run through the Savage Hills.

126199 In case you were wondering, if you are a Kindle Unlimited subscriber, Murder Cove is available for FREE download through that program.

126199 Thanks, H.L. The publisher's artist made this cover, so I hadn't thought about black on orange until now. That would've made it extra spooky, I think. I'm guessing they went with white on orange to make the title pop a bit.
126199 The paperback is out now on Amazon and through the publisher at RockingHorsePublishing.com.

What do you think about this book cover? The story is more of a summer than an autumn tale, but the orange and brown really works well with this time of year.

Murder Cove by Chris Bostic
126199 Hi, guys! Obviously, I haven't been around much as I put the finishing touches on my latest book. I’m thrilled to announce the release of my latest novel, Murder Cove! While mostly keeping with my tradition of outdoorsy, wilderness adventure fiction, there is a little bit of a deviation midway through where it becomes more of an indoors Die Hard-type survival story. Here’s a quick blurb:

Jake, Luke, and Kevin headed out a few days early for Grandpa’s old cabin. After some spooky conversation about a twenty-year-old murder, scaring themselves silly, the guys spent the night in a marathon gaming session.

Jake thought they needed to actually do something, something fun, but when they hiked down to the dock to put the canoes in the water, they discovered something totally not fun…

A body in the lake.

After all the stories, a couple of creepy visitors that morning, and an actual dead body, they were all ready to go home.

But things got worse. Much worse.

Now available in eBook on Amazon. Paperback is coming soon.

Thank you, as always.
126199 I can't say that I've heard of that specific book. Sorry, Jon.

Here's a few titles that spring to mind. I doubt any of them are the one you're looking for, but maybe it'll jog your memory. Some are Alaskan, not Canadian, I think.

My Side of the Mountain
Edges of the Earth
Paradise Creek
Backcountry
Hunger of the Wolf

126199 Thank you, Michelle. I'll look forward to hearing what you think.

Fair warning...though I created this Wilderness Survival group, Fugitives is not necessarily a "survival" story as in how to build a fire or survive the apocalypse. It's more of an outdoor adventure, which I hope you'll enjoy :)

126199 I wouldn't worry about a negative impact. A review is a review. It's subjective, and most of us authors are just happy to get one. Three stars is a solid ranking, too. At least by Goodreads standards, it's an "I liked it." Liking is good.

I won't say there weren't a few things I would change. Pretty much every book is that way. Sometimes I have to suspend disbelief a little.

If anything, I wouldn't have minded if Thirty Below was longer. There were a couple jumps, a couple changes in mood, that I would like to have seen expanded on. Not to spoil, but like the going from hate to love.

126199 Hey, everyone! I’ve been more than a little absent from the group lately, as two projects ended up coming together at the same time. I'm thrilled to announce to my favorite Goodreads group TWO new releases!

First off, there's my latest adventure book, Game Changer. I’d love for you to check out my story of a float trip gone wrong. Consider it a bit like Deliverance…for teens. Here’s a quick blurb:

Teenagers. Canoes. A float trip. What could go wrong?

Tom and J.C. are experienced in the woods and on the river; the brothers, too, but Will and Nate are a couple of clowns and not so dependable. Haley, the head cheerleader, is loaded down with her makeup and accessories. Katie just looks at them all and shakes her head.

So what could go wrong?

It all starts with a summer storm and a raging river. Missing canoes. Wild animals. A venomous snake.

And it pretty much doesn’t get any better…

Now available in eBook and paperback on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Then my first book, Fugitives from Northwoods, was turned into an ebook. I spent many long nights listening to a talented voice actor turn the novel into 8 hours of brilliant live action. The whole process was really cool. I'm amazed at how it turned out, and hope you guys will want to give it a listen. It's on Amazon, iTunes, and Audible. Here's a link to Audible.

Thank you all so much for your support!

126199 How's everyone doing on Thirty Below? I just finished the book yesterday, and posted a review moments ago.

Here's a link if you're curious about my thoughts:

In short, kudos to Harry. I though it was a fabulous read. Really enjoyed it.

126199 How about a helicopter?

I'm a big outdoors guy, but not a fan of super cold weather. I was thinking my three could be base layers, more base layers, and a snowsuit that makes me look like a sumo wrestler.

126199 You guys, grrrr. First Ms Koz steals my top three. Then I get this idea I should change matches to waterproof only to have Michelle take that one.

So how about I get rid of matches and swap it out for a snow machine? I'm a scout. I can build fire without matches. Or at least I used to be able to :) it's been a while

126199 Our Read & Review Program is much like how other groups run the program on Goodreads and has been designed with authors in mind. Our goal is to help indie and self-published authors promote their books.

How Does It Work?

The authors who are involved with our R&R Program graciously give out e-copies of their books to be read and reviewed within a specific time period (e.g. 4 to 6 weeks). In exchange for that free book, the review provides an honest, non-malicious review of the author's book.

Who can participate in R&R Program?

Anyone can participate in our R&R program. All you have to do is join the Wilderness Survival Books group and look for the R&R Program link to sign up either as an author or a reader/reviewer.

Now for more of those rules…

By receiving a free e-book to be reviewed, you agree to the following:

- You will read and give an honest review of the book in the given time frame.

- You will post your review to at least Goodreads, but preferably Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and other online book retailers also.

- You will not share this e-book with anyone! It is illegal to share the books you receive for review, so do not do it!

- Be advised that Goodreads review guidelines require that if you receive a free copy of a book, you must disclose that in your Goodreads review. Please make sure you are stating in your reviews if you have received the book free from the WS Books group and/or the author in exchange for a honest review.

Reviewers:
- Any member who signs up to review will receive the e-book on a first come first serve basis. This is also based on how many e-book copies the author is wanting to be reviewed.

- By signing up you are agreeing to read and review the assigned e-book within the time frame the author has stated! If you do not complete the e-book within the time given or or made contact with the me...you may not qualify to review any other books. Please note we must respect the authors and their generosity in sharing their books with us.

Authors:
- You can sign up on the author sign up page to enter your book in this listing.

- An email will be sent to the authors to gather more information on your requests.

Thank you, and Happy Reviewing!

You've been keeping up just fine. I sort of let it slip on the prepper book. Not very many people know about that one...not many at all. I had fun writing it. Tried for a bit of humor, but probably didn't pull it off quite like a Fat Mogul. Now I've started pitching it to agents...

Can't say that I've sledded much on Christmas. I'm now hearing there's a chance for a dusting. That's about all it takes to screw up traffic around here, but maybe just maybe...

Possibly no white Christmas, eh? It's not a very common occurence down here in Missouri, but it happens every now and then. It's not at all likely this year.

There's plenty of prepper groups on Goodreads...at least I assume there is. Can't say that I've looked too hard, not that there's anything wrong with that. I've been working on a prepper book myself about a kid with prepper parents. He thinks they're nuts until SHTF.

Sounds like you need to make yourself comfortable here, and prepare to wow us with your latest story of survivalism. This is exciting stuff, brother!

126199 Steamy, like caveman romance? Not sure what that says about me, but that sure caught my attention.

I take the silent part back, Shannon. You're just new, so I changed that part to be fair. I've been the silent one, but hopefully all that's about to change.

Or not. There's a holiday coming up and in a week or so I'll be off in the country away from reliable internet. Not exactly roughing it, but there will be a wood fire and lots of time outdoors in a cabin. (Log home, technically...I just like to make it sound more survivalist, haha).
