I did not write this book to become rich. In fact making money on the book was very low on my list. I wrote Crossing the Rubicon to educate and enlighten both the LGBT community as well as the Heterosexual community on the inner battles and struggles that one faces growing up. This book is written from personal experience and chronicles my struggles and perceived conflicts until I understood that acceptance could only be had once I accepted myself.

Cross the Rubicon has received some great reviews, from both communities. It has helped change perspectives and offered hope to people I would never have imagined it would reach.
I know this is a good book, has a great message and could help save the life of someone struggling as I did. However, it can do none of these things if no one reads it.
I have a web page http://www.nathanslight.com/ as well as an author Facebook page, I have been writing blogs, posted some promotional videos on youtube and even sent out a press release which was picked up, but not where I thought it would be.
I have sent copies of my book to "youtube" celebrities who deal with the LGBT issues hoping they would like and promote on their sites, with no response. I am sure this was the least beneficial marketing technique I have tried.
Does anyone have any advice on how I can promote this book with little to no budget? I am willing to do the work, While I am not a marketing major, I am prepared to put the blood sweat and tears into this project because I believe in it, I just want my efforts to amount to something.
Because of my day job, most of what I do has to fit into "after" hours and e-marketing rather than in-person marketing. Your advice would be greatly appreciated.
I realize the subject matter is not for everyone, yet the question is universal - where are the best places to expend energy to promote a book.
