Hi Jim, here is my review of Brendan's book Thieves in the Night.https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
The book I would like reviewing is Love & Haight https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...
Thanks
Tracey
If anyone, like me, has difficulty reading books for review, as a pdf, there is a free online converter that will convert your book to kindle/Mobi format. The spacing isn't great from pdf, but it's more readable than a computer screen.http://ebook.online-convert.com/conve...#

DM you're not missing anything, we are all waiting for Pamela's book. I'm glad you liked Empire under Siege, there is a good use of language in the book and I hope it helps with your own writing.
I'm coming to the end of the third book and was wondering are we getting a fourth, as someone else has asked me to do a review?I would recommend doing this to any author. I know some people are better at reviewing than others, but it is really good practice and all feedback is helpful.
If you need more reviews after the competition, you could sign up to the ebook review group. Jim gets 5 of us together and we all undertake to review 4 books in 8 weeks. It's going well so far, but I haven't had my reviews yet!

Cheers

Thanks for that generous offer, I've downloaded that today.

The article put a smile on my face, even if an expensive PR company is out of my reach. It was nice to see someone say they did all the Twitter, Facebook etc. and it didn't make a significant difference. I'm sure we all work really hard to promote our work and when you hear these people saying how well they have done, it makes you think you're doing something wrong. So it's nice to hear someone being honest, not just the hype. I think like most Indie Authors I will have to concentrate on quality over quantity and perhaps when you get on that Bestseller List, you could throw us a bone.
I think the good thing about Smashwords is it's free, the downside is you can't use KDP as your book is not exclusive to Amazon. I'm not a fan of KDP exclusives anyway so it doesn't matter to me. The reason why I started to use Smashwords was someone asked me for the book on Sony and Kobo. I don't know how to make books more visible on other platforms, as only B&N, to my knowledge, let you post reviews.i think I'm more likely to read a book if it's recommended to me on Goodreads and then I see what the Goodreads reviews say.
Personally I prefer Twitter to Facebook. I can grow Twitter more easily and I now get e-mails letting me know how many people have viewed my posts (I like my stats!) I don't add many authors on Twitter they are mainly readers & reviewers.Facebook pages have now changed so unless someone regularly visits your page, you don't feature in their home stream. So no matter how good your posts no one will be reading them unless they visit!
Another good point for Twitter is that you can link it to Goodreads and every time someone adds you on Twitter, they get an invitation to add you on Goodreads. For me this is home, because this is the home of readers.
I don't sell many books, but they do say it takes 4 books before people remember your name.
I would love to be included. My books are on Smashwords and Amazon so no one will need to buy it if they don't want to. I'm a little concerned at 8 weeks to read 4 books, as I work full time, but I should manage it.
