hiii!! i have no idea if anybody even remembers this group but it was a small passion project i started earlier this year and kinda abandoned recently due to stress & distractions (a running theme with me and passion projects)in short, i started college - something i've been looking forward to for months - and it wasn't what i expected at all. i'm tired of constricting myself to fit into a system that doesn't fit me and at the same time i'm so embarrassed i manage to crash and burn at every school i've ever tried to fit into. i don't want to be a failure, and i keep having this image of my empty chair in every class and it literally kills me because everybody else is managing to attend. atm the plan is to switch to an apprenticeship in teaching/education, my girlfriend has been super encouraging and supportive of this and i'm looking into options currently. my dad isn't super keen on the idea atm which has def factored into the stress and anxiety but we move!! i'm just trying to look on the bright side tbh - i'm dating the most incredible person, have had one of the best summers of my life (my prom was def a highlight!!!) and finally feel a little more secure in my own body and mind.
but what about everybody else? how's your reading going, and if u feel comfortable sharing, how's life? i'm hoping to start using this group more frequently again, i hope everybody's doing well and tysm to everybody who kept the chats going while i was away!! :) also are we liking the blog/life update style posts? lmk!!!
that’s okay!! the group will always continue on GR even if a discord server is added, the server would just be an optional extra ^^
thank you so much!! and that’s so sweet of you to offer <3 i def wanna expand this group and do BOTMs when we reach 50+ members. a discord server is a great idea, i’m gonna look into that
so happy to see we hit 20 members! welcome everybody to the group <33 what is everybody reading/watching atm?

While these aren't my top 3 favorite books, it gives me a good mix of genres I like"
omg good choices!! i need to read great gatsby, it's not something we read in school or even a super popular book here in the UK but i feel like it's something i have to get around to
what are your thoughts on book to movie/tv/theatre adaptations? what are your favourites you’ve seen and the worst - and what do you think made them good or bad? what books do you think would translate well to one of these mediums? <3to start, my favourite book to movie adaptation off the top of my head is probably Coraline. i’m struggling to think of an adaptation i hated - a lot are very underwhelming, but if i love a book i sometimes don’t feel the need to watch the movie (Perks of Being a Wallflower is my favourite book but I haven’t felt the need to watch the movie, although I’ve heard really good things!!) i think The Hunger Games movies are good but a biiig downgrade from the book, i feel like a lot was left out and i missed Katniss’s day-to-day POV a lot. i do feel like the portrayal of the capitol’s reactions to the games are a really interesting addition, and i’m excited to see how the SOTR movie is done ^^. i’d love to see the book This is How You Lose the Time War adapted, though I don’t think it’d work as a typical show or movie at all. i think it would translate really well to live theatre, like ballet, with the text and pages from the book integrated as the prose is such a major part.
but what are your thoughts? 💗💗

super basic question but i love hearing peoples’ answers to this kind of thing!! and in the same vein, what 3 movies would you choose to rewatch for the rest of your life? ^^
clown_the_basking_shark wrote: "Hello! I do! Im going to see The Prom tonight but my favorites are The Great Gatsby, Phantom of the Opera, and Ride the Cyclone"omg enjoy the prom!! i'm seeing six next week <3
my favourites are Wicked and In the Heights (though I haven't seen ITH live 🥲), and my fave non-musical production is Prima Facie
does anyone here like musical theatre or theatre in general? what are your favourite/least favourite shows? <3
