Hi Lilly 🙋♀️I often Hear about how to Kill a mockingbird, it is definetly a Book I want to Read. I heard Little Women as an Audio book, a beautiful Story. And also the catcher in the rye. I dont really know what to think about it. The Drama in a Teenagers head. But it is quite a while ago i read it.
Still Reading Dorian gray. A Bit slowly (i read two books at the time) but i definetly Like the book more in my thierties than in my twenties. I Wonder if the book changes every decade i grow older 🤔
I started Reading dorian gray. I really dont Like Lord henry! I wouldnt want to be any younger than 25- when you are younger everything and everyone seems to be so important - exhausting! But 25 … I was effortlessly skinny, my breasts were definetly a bit higher than today and nobody was afraid of getting sick. Today the topic in conversation with friends is often illness, pain, difficulties of getting pregnant because of age. Thats definetly scary. I dont like lord henry😖
Oh and if you have the possibility to see the Musical „& Juliet“ - definetly do!! It is so made for the millenial Generation 😂 it became one of my favourite two Musicals
Dorian gray is on my bookshelf as well! I did read it before, but it is several years ago, so when I saw it, I Took it again.
Anyone ever Read Romeo and Juliet? (Wow, that rhymes…)In the First Act Romeo is hopelessly in love with another Girl called rosaline . Then he meets Juliet. And when he asks the priest to marry them he answers:
„Holy saint francis, what a change is here!
Is rosaline, whom thou didst love so dear,
So soon forsaken? Young men‘s love then lies
Not truly in their hearts, but in their eyes.“
Funny how the Story is so different in peoples minds - true love instand of Teenagers foolishness.
Just wanted to chare random thoughts you might find amusing.
S.j., your last recommendation was 5 Stars for me, so i will keep it in mind. I have so many Books on my shelf at the Moment! A lot more than usual😅Hi bea,
I am thinking about Reading Emma by Jane austen. Usually i am not that much into girlie Books, but pride and prejudice was a pleasent surprise. Is emma better or worse?
One of the books on my shelf is romeo and juliet. Even in english… i read it in school and remember that it was Full of swear words i didnt unterstand. But i am going to See the Musical „&juliet“ in a few weeks and i wanted to (at least try to) reread it. And i simply just have it in Shakespeare-british-english.
I slept over it. I‘d give the book 4 Stars. Maybe the story deserves 5, but the book was written in 1816 - without proper grammar. This kind of language is so exhausting to read. I read the whole story out loud to be able to follow. Am i the only person who does that with these old texts or is that a normal thing to do - sitting alone on a couch and reading as if a child would listen, just for yourself ?
I just read „the sandman“ by e.t.a. Hoffmann. It left me … disturbed… maybe. I am not sure if i liked it. It is just a short story, one can read it in one sitting. If you like weird stuff - i usually do- it is a story for you! I have to sleep before i decide whether i enjoyed it 😂 i had the same feeling After watching „midsummer“. Unsettling.
I watched the First 45 minutes of Little women. Why are the children (aged 12-16) played by grown up women? So weird…
I Read day Boy and Night Girl!I grew up with the original fairytales by brothers grimm (where cinderellas siblings cut off part of their feet to fit into the slippers). So i love These because its childhood Memory. As an adult i usually dont Like fairytales. They are too absurd. I started reading Tales of the thousand and one night and gave up on page 80. So many short storys which just seemed so random. Like from a childish mind.
But day Boy and Night Girl changed my mind completely. I read it on my phone (found a pdf in the Internet) and loved it the Moment she stepped outside. I love that bat girl. The way she describes water, her understanding of light und death. The ending was too much fairytaley (thats probably Not a word), but i‘d give it 5stars! Thanks for that advice!
Jo Reminded me of Pippi longstocking a little. Amy reminded me of myself, we Are Both the last born child. But jo is my favourite character. I finished the audiobook. Thank you very much for that advice, i enjoyed it.
Now i am looking out for that scotish author.
On Netflix (at least in my Country) you can watch Little Women. I am certainly going to do that the next days. I Like Reading a Book and than watch the movie while grumbling about how bad the movie is compared to the book. 😅 we all Need a weird Hobby, don‘t we?
I have 3 more Hours to listen to of little women. It makes me think of little house on the prairie. Hartwarming and sweet.
I know the original meaning of „Gay“ and „queer“ is a different one than how i would use them today. I just Never heard someone use these words old fashioned. So when the queer Girls join all the gay parties my mind painted a picture (just one second) of jo and Beth joining the Rocky Horror picture Show… i Must have had a really weird look on my face at that Moment.
Hi!I like that you recommend shorter books!
I‘ve read the old man and the sea and Jule verne (Journey to the Center of the Earth). I‘ve Never heard of george MacDonald, but i will certainly look out for him.
Are you european because most of your recommendations are?
I started „Little women“. I dont mind Reading an english Book or watching an english movie, but an audiobook in a foreign langauage somehow takes more concentration. It seems to be a lovely Book. Makes you „as happy as a cricket“ as jo would say. Because it seems to be a book for younger readers i am most certainly wrong, but i wonder - the girls have Brown, red and blond hair - is there really just one father envolved 🤔
I know that it is not recommended to travel to the usa, But that you have trouble to go somewhere is new to me.Germany is beautiful. Be aware that germans value truth over politness. Maybe that is why we come off as rude 😅. But i promise we are not! Thats what makes different cultures interesting… and most of us speak a pretty decent english (at least good enough for small talk).
I was in new york and did a trip from San Francisco to Seattle. I loved red wood forest and Even more crater lake in Oregon !! But my favourit spot was alice in wonderland in central Park 😍
Favourit Book Genres? I can read a lot of different stuff… i like it, when there is some criticism on Society. And Thrillers. I love it, when the author makes me feel sympathetic with the evil sociopath or a twist which haunts me for a little while.I rarely like romantic novels… and fantasy. Every now and then i read something, But mostly i am Not really into it.
Historic can be really good and really boring, you never know before reading.
I watched Anne of Green Gables on netflix, loved it! Watched it twice already 😅.But i would be in the mood of a surprise.
Little women by Louisa may alcott? I‘ve Not even heard of that author. Are you american?
I found it as an audiobook on youtube. I First want to finish stephen king „later“.
😄 you seem to be really nice. Tbr? Books i want to read? I would Like to read the third gilmore girl. If i dont stumble upon it, i will probably buy it for my holiday in november.
I liked the last two islands most in gulliver 😉.
What are your favourit books? If there is one I might like, i will read it. And tell you my thoughts about it while Reading. I Never read how to kill a mocking Bird.
