I love you too dude ❤️
(TW: implications and mention of su!cide and SH)Have you ever thought, “no one cares”?
No one would notice if you disappeared? If you didn’t respond to the group chat for weeks? If you didn’t show up in class? If you stopped posting on your socials? If they never heard from you again?
And that no one would care even if they did notice?
No one would miss you, cry over you, regret not noticing you were struggling?
You are wrong.
You are not alone.
Maybe you don’t have any friends, or the ones you do have are toxic. Maybe your family isn’t “family” and home isn’t a safe place. I’m not going to lie about those possible realities and say they’ll suddenly care once you’re gone. But you are wrong to think that there’s no one outside of there who loves you and would care if you were gone.
You are loved by so many, even those you don’t know.
A stranger you once smiled at or held a door open for had their heart warmed that day. They might have needed that small kind gesture and may hold that memory for years. They would want you to be happy, too. and go on to smile at others.
A person you once interacted with online remembers one of your posts or comments somewhere. They loved your humour, passion, style of writing, tone, the subject you chose to write about, and maybe they were even impacted by your profile, and they thought you were an amazing person to interact with. If they talked to you often they may have grown to love hearing about your daily life or whatever you share online, and gotten excited whenever they saw a new update or message from you. Whether you interacted often or not, they’d be sad to see a beautiful person disappear from their home feed and life.
A kid in your class might be all alone, scared, and left out at school, then they saw you. You may never have interacted. Maybe that’s for the future. But they saw you, going about your life, and something about your physique, expression, style, way you treated other students, or something else, caught their attention. They may have felt more comfortable in that class just with you being there, and maybe they wanted to become friends with you but were too shy to ask. They care about you and think you’re a good person, and they want you to stay in the world.
The first responders that would be on the scene if you tried to leave the world? They want nothing more than for you to be okay. They will do anything to save your life even though they have no idea who you are. They’ve seen death firsthand, they’ve seen all shades of life, and they know that everyone deserves to keep living and telling their story. They care about you so much.
And it’s not just humans that would be impacted if you left.
That tree in your front yard has watched you for years as you grow up, and smiles every time you walk past and brush your fingers across its bark or sit in its shade, because it’s happy to have someone appreciate its beauty. It would miss hot afternoons sheltering you from the sun, or chilly mornings watching you hustle to school.
Your bedside lamp would miss the routine tap or twist of your fingers, the way you brush off the dust that settles and rely on it to its glow for your homework, reading, and maybe journaling. In your room, it’s watched you through your hardest moments alone in your room crying, or staring at the ceiling, or hurting yourself, and it’s always been there to cast light across the room and chase off the shadows. It would miss seeing you enter at the end of a long day, leave in the mornings, and go about your life.
The floor, porch, and sidewalk are all in tune with your regular footsteps, in and out, going about your life. Though other people will walk on them too when you’re gone, the ground will never echo the same as they did with your exact shoes, weight, and gait. Don’t leave them with just the ghost of your footprints and scuffmarks they used to proudly hold to show the world, they walked here.
If you think no one and nothing will miss you, you’re wrong. The world shifts when someone leaves it. A gap is left in reality that cannot be filled. Insignificant-seeming things and people feel the emptiness, the raw space, the impact you never thought you’d leave.
Suicide isn’t the answer. Don’t leave the earth. Stay, keep fighting, keep writing your story, for the little things.
Where can I post a topic for self care reminders, affirmations, and (TW) reasons to stay (like in the world)?
Goodreads may allow pedophiles on the app but fortunately we have control over our own groups. With all due respect (which is basically none), please remove yourself from my and my friends' groups
