The Sound of Silence

In a world once filled with vibrant sound,
I stood still, as silence unwound.
My laughter, once bright, now lost in the air,
A quiet new world, a challenge to bear.

Told I’m lying, voices abound
Yet truth steadfast, like the stars in the night,
A journey of courage, a silent fight.

Through corridors of hope, I began to dread,
Yet with a team of doctors, where compassion was spread,
My fears weren’t eased.
Something tough & rough, I had to please.

Yet, they listened with care, where others had failed,
Together we ventured, as fear was unveiled.
The trauma lingered, a shadow in my days,
Yet through the darkness, I found my ways.

In a world of silence, my spirit gained.
At last, I got them, those hearing aids,
A gateway to sounds, where silence fades.

A girl who is deaf, yet profoundly proud.

Have you ever been a mod or admin before? If yes, where and what were your responsibilities?
Yes, I have. In the group: ★Lgbtq (Safe Place)★
I was in charge of maintaining it, moderation, and making sure all rules were followed.

What skills or qualities do you think make you a good fit for the mod team?
I'm calm during times of conflict and I'm able to have a flexible time schedule.

How do you usually handle conflict or drama in a group setting?
I normally try to take it to a quieter place like PMs- if that doesn't work, I hear both sides of the story and try to figure out which way would be the best to help.

How active can you be (hours per day or week)?
I'm on all the time- and sometimes not between 4 am - 6 am.

Are you comfortable enforcing rules even with friends?
Absolutely! No special treatment to anyone.

A member starts an argument in chat — what do you do first?
I PM them to talk about it, and see what's going on. I may give a warning (if you all do warnings/suspensions.) or bring in another mod for support to have two opinions on the matter.

Someone is venting and another member makes an insensitive comment. How do you handle it?
I immediately let the member who commented know that that isn't ok and welcome here. I would also PM them to talk to them about what would happen if they did it again.

You notice a mod abusing their power — what’s your next step?
Quietly let someone of a higher rank know, and try to reverse the damage mod-abuser has done.

A member DMs you about feeling unsafe in the group. What actions do you take?
I talk to them quietly about what is making them feel unsafe, and what I can do to help!

Which areas of the group are you most interested in helping with? (e.g., events, writing chats, safe spaces, games, fandom threads, etc.)
All of it! (Probably not fandoms due to the fact I can be an uncultured person .-.)

What ideas do you have to make the community more welcoming or active?
Having a section for everyone- including those with disabilities. We also could add houses/cabins where we could host little minigames. These could be led by mods.

How would you describe your personality as a mod (strict, chill, supportive, organized, etc.)?
I'm really organized, chill, and supporting :)
