In "Surviving the Evacuation, Book 1: London" Bill finds himself under these dreaded conditions. His leg is broken and we find him waiting patiently to be rescued, writing in his journal and watching the tragedy unfold outside his window. It soon becomes clear to him that the help he was promised was not going to come and broken leg or not he was the only person who was going to save him.
The book is told through a series of journal entries which usually isn't my thing because I love reading dialogue, but I found it very refreshing and could not put it down. I cannot say anymore without giving away spoilers but what I can say is that something that is probably the most cliche' thing to say but I'm going to say it anyways, "if you love zombies you'll love this book." I could feel the isolation, Bill's struggles, loneliness and pain. The only thing that really bugged me was how easy it was for him to kill a zombie... like it was natural, like it was a normal everyday occurrence. His first kill should have been hard and then gradually get easier but it just seemed too easy for him in the very beginning.
I highly recommend this book! Start reading it now. https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00FGV3X7A?t...

Thanks.

I've tried a few myself. So You Think You Can Write created by Harlequin is one of my favorites. It's FREE and your work is seen by one of the top romance publisher's in the world.
The Prize: Free publishing contract with Harlequin.
Success Story: Just because your book didn't make it to the finals and/or win doesn't mean it was a loss. Some author's have been offered publishing deals regardless .
That being said what are some of your favorite writing contests?

People who know me know how much I LOVE apocalyptic novels. And I've read it all: vampires, werewolves, killer viruses and of course, my personal favourite - zombies. There is something about being in such dark, disastrous times that draw me into these novels. I love them. I crave them, and I cherish them dearly. Maybe it's living in a world void of rules. Gone are morals and the need for law and money. Or maybe it's the way the apocalypse brings... things, dark scary things that we didn't know lingered inside of us all. That's why I love these types of novels and that's why I especially loved this series by Virginia Bergin.
When I saw The Rain I was immediately drawn by that little bit under the title "Just one drop will kill you" Hello? Can you imagine living in a world where the rain is poison? We need the rain to survive. Humanity couldn't live without it. So how could you defeat such a deadly enemy? You can't. In The Rain if one drop gets on your skin you're doomed. You can't touch it or drink it, so how do you survive?
For the first time ever I'm not going to review this book like I normally would. I'm not going to summarize my likes or dislikes. I want you to read it. I want you to dive into this series without any hint of what's to come. And trust me you won't regret it. I promise. I strongly recommend you getting both The Rain and its sequel The Storm because once you start you won't want to stop.

After reading most of the reviews on Amazon I notice a lot of people saying the illustrations might be a little bit scary for young readers. Though, that might be true, I love them, and I can’t wait to share this story with my niece and nephew because I think they’ll love them too. It’s fun, easy to read, and captures a different take on counting books for children. The world the author, and illustrator created made me remember my childhood dream of wanting to live inside the pages of pretty books. It has that old mother goose feel to it.
I do think, however, that this book would be best suited as a hardcover or paperback.

Title: Destination D.C
Genre: Action and Adventure/Science Fiction
Blurb: Muki, Abdul, Judith and Larry endured a harrowing thirteen days in the bowels of the Pioche Complex with Professor Leonoid Skorzenzy. Relieved they survived the adventure, will they be able to resume the summer vacation they originally started out on or will the events of the past continue to haunt them?

Muki, Abdul, Judith and Larry continue their journey right where the last book left off. Though I'm not a huge fan of books that contain political plots, I made the exception for Destination DC, as I did with Gateway:Pioche. So far this book has been the only exception to that rule, which is saying a lot.
The main characters uncover a sinister plot by a secret government organization hiding in plain sight, who are planning to overthrow the US government and start a new world order. They are still being pursued by the goons from the first book, while searching for someone, anyone they can trust.
I loved the scientific possibilities, the easy-to-follow story line, the lovable and funny characters. And of course, I was blindsided by the twist at the end. Sure didn't see that one coming. I highly recommend this book, but read Gateway:Pioche first. You won't be disappointed.

*Reap and Repent will be released separately by Harlequin E later this year, and is the first book in an on-going series.
Crystal's Review
I’m going to be honest. I usually don’t read ANYTHING that’s not young adult related, but when I stumbled upon this book, I was instantly intrigued. Reapers? An ancient evil drawn to their love, threatening to destroy them both? Hook. Line. Sinker.
Reap and Repent by Lisa Medley is an addictive, paranormal romance filled with love and death around every corner. She created a world so full of magic and possibilities that I often find myself wondering if it were even possible. If it were, Purgatory and Hell would be nothing like we imagined them to be. Reapers would be a hot, sexy mess. Angels and Demons …well, I couldn’t decide whether I wanted to hug them or punch them in the face.
You’d have to tread carefully Supernatural fans. Once you start reading you won’t want to stop. I can’t wait to see where Deacon, Ruth, Nate and Kylen end up.
