133630 Oh, I missed that! Glad you mentioned it here.

133630 I picture DFW at his desk thinking "how can I include all my favorite obscure words in this book? I know, I'll have a ghost shout them at Gately while dancing around his hospital room!"

133630 Wow, these passages with Gately in the hospital might be my favorite part so far.

133630 Jennifer Lawrence as Joelle.
Jul 28, 2014 08:31PM

133630 Adrien Brody as Himself.
Jul 27, 2014 06:35PM

133630 Sam Rockwell as Lenz and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Green.
Jul 27, 2014 06:34PM

133630 I was thinking of Tilda Swinton as Avril and Jodie Foster as Pat. clearly Tilda needs to be in there somewhere.

133630 I also feel like I should go back and re-watch all of Parks and Rec.

133630 I really want an Enfield Tennis Academy hoodie now.

133630 I assume so...

I'm also guessing that the way the characters refer to death as "erasing one's map" is a reference to the way that the toxic part of the US was "erased" from the US map by president Gentle.

133630 I'm reserving judgment on Avril until I feel like I know more about her. I feel like Pemulis is the kind of bad-influence friend that parents and school administrators kind of have to hate, and Avril is both. ;)

133630 I'm glad to hear that this question gets answered; I'd been wondering as well.

133630 I was intrigued by the idea in footnote 164 about "their appeals to an American ideology committed to the appearance of freedom". Reminded me of the passages in DFW's "This is Water" about freedom.

133630 Both those sections were great.

133630 Yeah, Orin has gotten less charming here recently.

133630 Just finished the 20 page footnote about #%?!* Canadian separatists only to go back to the main text and find more Canadian separatists. Pemulis is my hero for turning off the phone.

133630 My favorites so far are Pemulis and Orin. I'm excited for the Eschaton section, since they both seem to be fans.

133630 Just finished this section today. Who is everyone's favorite character so far?

133630 I'm only on p. 224, so didn't click the link, but I definitely agree that Portishead seems like a good choice for IJ.
