All you have to do is tell me which side you would prefer to be on and which speaker you want to be. Have a look at this if you're confused...https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
Paperbacks can be personal - whilst you can 'highlight' sections that you like, you can remember sections through the worn out pages, the bent spines. It is also harder to organise shelves for books and you cannot borrow them from friends etc... However, e-books are more condensed and can contain more material in smaller spaces for planes and journeys. E-books can hurt your eyes looking at them but you can change the size of text and spaces between words.
Personally: Paperbacks/Hardbacks!
Yeah, just put a cap on it if it is inappropriate. I don't know anyone younger than me in this group currently so we're fine...
Debate No.1 Structured "The Past is the main way to understand the Present"
Do you agree or disagree? Want to take part in the debate? Sign up here:
Tanya - In type 1, you can do it however you want. In the second option, you post the whole speech. Usually there are word limits on online debating, but that's up to the debaters....Vinny - you can sign up for debates when we gather some ideas together...
We haven't got any categories yet because we are only 2 days old (the group) but we could soon if we had enough topics...You can choose any topic :)
In this group, we shall have 2 types of debate:1 = Unstructured debate between 2 people or between the entire group. Can last as long as it wants to be.
2 = This type of debate is more structured. The format of speakers is:
First speaker Proposition
First speaker Opposition
Second speaker Proposition
Second speaker Opposition
Open to the floor
Third speaker Opposition
Third Speaker Proposition
Proposition always starts and ends the debate. As you can see, there are 6 speakers so before the debate, you will form 2 teams of 3.
Timings for the debate:
As we cannot meet in real life, every speaker will have up to 3 days to post their speech. If they cannot, the debate continues to the next speaker.
Open to the floor:
When the debate is open to the floor, anyone in the group can pose a question to either side. This is then responded to, with a 5 day limit.
Feedback will be posted after the debate
Note - times can be adjusted according to the debaters preferences.
We will begin putting debates up for both types of debate, so feel free to sign up!
Want to create a logo or masthead for us to here? All submissions here! The best will be decided by the end of April or May, depending on the amount of entries.
