The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August by Claire North This book is definitely different and made me think! Harry is born in 1919, lives his life and dies, and is reborn in 1919. No matter how he lives or dies he is reborn in the same situation and remembers all of his previous lives. How would you change your life if you could live it all over again?
Call the Midwife: A Memoir of Birth, Joy, and Hard Times by Jennifer Worth. Nurse Jenny moves into a convent to help the nuns as a midwife in London in the 1950's. This memoir that has become a PBS series depicts the hard times in the dock area where families are large, babies are born at home, and the mothers rely on the midwife to help. The vivid descriptions of the characters and setting make this biography a fast paced read that made me want to read one more chapter!
