134920 Pretty Little Things Pretty Little Things by Teresa Mummert

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

So I was bad.
I judged a book by its cover.

First rule of book club. Never judge a book in book club.

So I now I look at this pretty little cover and shake my head disappointed.
You had so much potential! So today I decide to write my review a little different.

This is a letter to the book about our relationship and what went wrong......

Dear Pretty Little Things,
First I must state how pretty you honestly are, which also happens to be were our downward spiral began. I'm not saying I picked you blindly on your looks but I'm not saying they didn't help either. I heard about you, asked and looked around, I even read up on you as creepy as it may sound. All things were mostly good. Characters that people fell in love with, felt for, a good plot (however the plot was never told all was just said that it was good. See blind faith and your pretty little looks)and a truck loud of sexual tension. You promised me that, you gave me the idea that you'd actually follow through with a hint of 50 Shades of Grey. Instead, you avoided a lot of the things I asked you. Left me asking why and where does this story even begin? How did this even start and more importantly....WTF does this have to do with anything?!?
You should've been called beautiful sexual frustrations because even when they were getting some it was still not what they wanted. Oh and was I supposed to swoon because they're pretty good looking?!?! I hate how you used your looks against me,trying to make me stay. You lied or maybe I read too much into it.... either way you fell short and I look like the bad guy ( well bad girl but you're so kinky you probably enjoy that!) but you did this. How did you trick everyone else who said it was great being with you? It was ok, interesting a bit to say the least but I saw 5 stars!?! HOW!?
Characters are supposed to have substance!People leave the house and do other things besides walk the same four corners, the characters you set up for me didn't do a lot of things that made sense to who were they supposed to be. Also gated houses have doorbells! How is it that everyone's on the premise of a gated home came in whenever they feel like it but these kids needed to be protected! Oh and if someone is supposed to be kept secret why does everyone and they guy three doors down know about them?!?! Why are they having open door parties?!? With alcohol! ( Listen I'm no stickler on drinking ages but I'm pretty sure no catering company will willingly serve alcohol to children just because you asked them too) Plus the story I actually wanted to know was barely explained because well what, you forgot? Or did you have a deadline and you just said screw it? Sorry. I didn't mean to throw this on you but it wasn't easy for me. I put up with it to the end and yes this is the end. There were so many holes, pointless storylines and ideas a jumble of sexy mess and not in a good way. You thought you covered all the bases (no pun intended) and instead I'm left trying to piece together a make shift ending.
Oh and next time if you want to make things sexy and skip the rest of an actual story try sticking to one thing.
Sexy or Storyline.
At least 50 did that!
Sincerely,
Moving on to BIGGER and BETTER books

Where you heavily annoyed with this book? I was.
It was 50 shades esque because of this innocent shtick and protection and constantly being angry and horny. This wasn't what I wanted at all lol

I finally got to start Pretty Little Things today.
Anyone else reading yet?"

I am and so is Sabrina.
Is this or is this not the better version of 'Fifty Shades of Grey'? It's interesting.

134920 Chapter 1 : for a YA book alot of....uuuuummmmm.....touching and head motions.....
Everyone's sexual frustrated and it's only chapter 1. Everyone's desirable and gorgeous and it's only Chapter 1. Someone already got a blow job and it's on page 2. I'm not judging , just stating facts!

I want see the film to see the difference too later on but I always feel reading the book first it's always a bit of a let down by comparison. Plus, there is going to be another Odd Thomas movie coming out soon.

134920 Odd Thomas from the first page is a good read. It's witty, funny and Odd Thomas is.... oddly relatable.
