135338 1. As someone who already read the book, I hoped for so much from WW... and now, I can say that it exceeded my expectations.

2. Honestly, yes... I felt a little sympathetic, but at the same time, I still thought that she shouldn't have punished all the trolls... I mean, you know.... it was the King's fault, not the whole troll population.

3. No... maybe? I think Tristan don't want Cecile to do the deed, because he don't want her to have bloods on her hands.

4. I think it's both. The struggle of her promise to the King is too much, we all know that... but I think, part of it was also how she wanted to end Anushka and perhaps free her mother soul (or something) from her.

5. It's chaos. At first I thought, the one in control (the one who leads the trolls heading to Trianon) was the King. But there's Angouleme, and the half-bloods, so I figured, it was a total chaos.

And OMG! Your LOTR reference! I imagined it from some of the LOTR scenes as well. More of the Isengard https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Afw8e...

or the Horn of Erebor in The Hobbit 3. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lklgA...

135338 1. I agree with Brittani. I prefer that I just know it happened. Maybe make it more romantic and passionate prior to the ACTUAL scene, but not too explicit like those in NA novels. Some of my favorite YA novel sex scenes were yours (Hidden Huntress) and Iron Queen by Julie Kagawa. I like it vague but still knowing that it actually happened, unlike in Allegiant by Veronica Roth, I still don't know if they did it or not. Lol

2. Oh, yes! A lot. But my most favorite, I'd say the love-hate and bromance between Ash and Puck from Iron Fey series. And in Air Awakens series, Fritz-Vhalla-Larel. :)

3. I think he also wanted to experience the human life. I know that he's pretty optimistic about him living with Cecile in the human world after breaking the curse and everything. So perhaps, he was motivated to know first hand, what would it be like to live his life as a normal human.

4. Cecile should have been more cautious with her actions. We know that Cecile sometimes doesn't make smart decisions and as a prize, other people were put to risk. Given the situation, it was a terrible decision, but they have no other choice. They needed answer and Pierre was the only one they think they can help them.

5. I think it happened in the heat of the moment.

135338 1. It depends for me. Well, I mean, for high fantasy, for me romantic plotline is just a bonus entertainment. If the main plot of the story is great, it won't become less of how great it is just because there's not much romance in it. Poison Study is one of my favorite YA high fantasy, and this one only made a little romantic focus at the near end, but it didn't bother me that much. Sure, YA novels are known to have romance --- lots of it, but either more or less focus of romantic plotline, it still depends on how great they're delivered. Hehe

2. I get where she's coming from. But still... too evil and insane. lol

3. YES. I WAS DYING FOR THEM TO MEET REAL BAD. It didn't go as I was expecting, but I was not disappointed. Haha

4. I think she held a little guilt, not because it's her fault obviously, but knowing that her descendants made the Trolls and the love of her life suffer that much, she probably got scared and felt a little guilty about it. Something like that, I don't know. lol

5. I think, just like how Fred loathed the Trolls for what they did to Cecile, Sabine felt the same thing for them. But knowing how Cecile loves Tristan, Sabine also thought of giving them a chance, or something. BUT I think Sabine held on to the stereotype looks of "trolls", them being ugly and such. So she thought once she meet Tristan, she'll be faced with this...

...deformed and such, so she thought she'll take pity on them. Not expecting that she'll actually see a determined, handsome and brooding prince like this...

So, all the pity she thought she'll feel just went downhill.

Or something like that. lol

PS, I really like this image of Alex Pettyfer looking all princely. haha

135338 1. I don't remember I stopped reading a series because my favorite characters died. lol

2. It kind of creeped me out at some point. Dark magic is somewhat scary (reminds me of Hex Hall lol). But Cecile has good intentions and during desperate times, there's no helping it but resort to what you think is the best method.

3. At first I was like "wth? Pedo!" Hahahaha. I thought Lessa might have been too desperate to attain power so much because, seriously, to agree to be betrothed to a child???

4. I don't think it's a mistake, but it's totally risky, because we all know how promises in Trollus can bind someone in the worst possible way. But I also think that it's the best way to gain their trust.

5. It's hard to guess her method tbvh, but I know it involves extremely dark magic. Haha

135338 1. Yes and no...maybe. I think reviews can help authors in many ways like improving, let's say if it's a series, on the sequel of the first book. I have this one book which I loved, but there was a drawback because of the heroine's attitude, so I didn't end up rating it 5-star. The author happened to see my review, and she commented how she will surely improve that heroine's attitude on the sequel. I believe that constructive criticism are a big help for authors. No, because there are times when reviewers get too HARSH on criticizing a certain book. I have read reviews where the reviewers rant so hard that they forget about the impact of their harsh words towards the author. I mean, authors get hurt too. Reviewers don't really have to be mean... we can always say criticisms in a much nicer way.

2. I understand where he's coming from, of course. I think my big brothers will react the same way if I were Cecile... or maybe not? Maybe they'll offer me in exchange of golds instead. Lol. Kidding aside, it made me feel nervous, because, well, not all Trolls are bad guys, and of course, Tristan and friends!

3. Yes! I mentioned how I think that Tristan's choice on forcing Marc to live may seem selfish but it's actually for a greater cause when you look at it deeper. When Marc decided to live, I know Tristan did the right think. And after reading WW, I think, yeah, it's all worth it.

4. Oh, I admire Tips, really! He's my favorite half-blood, actually. I think it was fair. Tristan has been giving them hope, so... it's time to make him realize his mistakes towards the half-bloods.

5. A little. I think it took Tristan as long as it did to figure it out the impostor because he was obviously hurt when he thought he lost Anais. When he saw the Anais impostor, I know deep inside him, he was happy to see Anais alive after all. So he probably embraced that and didn't care about any other details that showed that it's not really Anais.

135338 1. I usually don't. I usually don't reread in general. lol. Because I consider myself a slow reader, I don't my time can accommodate ALL the books I want to read if I reread. But there are exceptions, of course --- if I really really love the series/book. :)

2. I think I'll do the same go with Cecile's way. Get all clues, and start the act afterwards.

3. Oh, Roland always scare the hell out of me whenever he's near Cecile. So, I thought there's some evil plan behind the reason why he was there.

4. "Huh?! Wait, what?! How?!" <--- Exactly like this. But I got thrilled... because I love plot twists and mysteries. Haha

5. I didn't like Genevieve since Stolen Songbird for some reasons. And I didn't like her even more after Cecile started living with her in Hidden Huntress. Genevieve was not the mother Cecile thinks she is (considering we don't know her real identity yet by this time) and I don't trust her for that. So, I didn't trust her tears either. I kind of considered her story to be true as well, but my distrust towards her won over. lol

135338 1. I have mixed feelings with cliffhangers. It depends. I love cliffhangers because it makes me anticipate for the next book. Because there are these occasions when I get bored in the middle of the series, and having a good cliffhanger would make me want to read the next one and not break the hype. There are also cliffhangers I hate for actually REALLY putting me on edge. I mean, I love it too, because it means it's really good and I can expect more on the next books. What I hate about it is the feeling of not being able to take my mind off of it. lol. The struggle. The torture... you know. :p

2. This is a tough question. Cecile has a great relationship with her family and friends, and exchanging her previous life for Tristan is harder that it may seem... But, oh well if it's me... Trollus is something else, and also, I found new friends. Sooner or later, I'll also decide to be independent. As long as I have news about my family, I think I'll be fine. lol. I'll just think of it as really building a new family with the man I love. So I'll choose to stay in Trollus.

3. Tristan was caught up in the moment. He was too desperate that he forgot to think thoroughly about the consequences of his decision. He also has trust issues. lol

4. Let's be honest here.... Because Tristan is pretty-faced-bastard. lol. Kidding aside, I agree with Ellie here. I get to blend my emotion with Cecile's that with Tristan. So when Cecile decides something I think was stupid, it has more impact to me.

5. Before reading Warrior Witch, I thought of him as a threat. I know how strong Angouleme's hold to Roland. He's just a kid after all.

6. In Stolen Songbird, the king wants to test Tristan on so many ways. He's scary but I think he still cares for Tristan. But having seen so many kings/emperors (and the likes) as villains on YA high fantasy novels, I also thought of him the same as those royal villains --- cunning, cruel etc. Haha

Better late than never :p

135338 After reading Warrior Witch, it feels so heavy to answer in the discussions now. loool. My heart.

1. I usually see prologue with New Adult novels, even on fantasy new adult. I read prologue, and sometimes I think it is what makes the story more interesting and intriguing.

2. He is really brave to bond with Penelope. Marc is always brave. Tristan's choice on forcing him to live was a little selfish, but when you look at it deeper or in a different way, it's not for Tristan entirely, it's for a greater cause. Because Marc is the most loyal to Tristan and he's the only one who can help Tristan with his plans for Trollus.

3. This is tricky question since I've already read Warrior Witch and I have mixed feelings about their decision of breaking the curse. There are so many factors to consider, and I'm afraid to voice out my thoughts without accidentally slipping some spoilers... so... hehe.

4. Confessions are always romantic to me...

5. I knew Chris would somehow try to win Cecile from Tristan but I also knew that he'll never have the chance so it never really bothered me of him being in a love triangle with Cecile and Tristan. LOL

Yeah. Been a fan of Joong Ki since Sungkyungkwan Scandal. lol. And his chemistry with Song Hye Kyo is undeniably beautiful. lol. Anyway, yeah. I was surprise too, that's why I just had to reply on your comment. hehe.

As for Tristan, I agree that his great acting would suit the character, yes. Asian Tristan, why not. :p

Yeah. I agree with the LOTR part. lol

And I'm currently reading WW soooo...yeah *grins* I don't want to end the trilogy, really, but I'm also excited to know the ending. Uuuugh!

135338 1. I'd enjoyed Catching Fire out of all the movies from The Hunger Games (I haven't seen the last one tho). And all LOTR and The Hobbit movie adaptations are my all time favorites. Before, I get upset but I learned that it's not a bad thing after all. Like on The Maze Runner for example, the book has many flaws, but the changes in the movie worked a lot better than I'd expected.

2. I never really thought of Beauty and The Beast while reading Stolen Songbird. I think it's because most of the Trolls are deformed, and they somewhat stick to the general image of Trolls as ugly creatures. I don't know really. lol

3. Interesting! I liked how the political part in Stolen Songbird was a big part of the story. For me, it's the most intriguing and interesting in Stolen Songbird, aside from Tristan. lol

4. I knew that there was something going on with Cecile's mother. At first, I only suspected Genevieve as someone who personally knows Anushka, or as someone who has a connection with her. But I was honestly surprised at the big reveal. lol

5. On this part, I know that Cecile's feelings for Tristan is growing stronger, so I believe that it's jealousy. Also, knowing how strong Tristan's bond with Anais is, I think Cecile is still insecure about Tristan's feelings. Emotion is not easy to deal with. lol

6. This is the hardest question so far. Haha! I'll just leave these photos here. ;)

I really liked Perfect Chemistry, Fallen Too Far, Fever series, and of course high fantasy like Poison Study, Throne of Glass (Chaolena. I'm just about to start the 3rd book, and I'm trying to avoid spoilers as much as possible. lol), and Air Awakens kinda started with hate or dislike too, I think. Hehe :)
Feb 29, 2016 09:05PM

135338 I'm not sure if this is open internationally, but won't hurt to try. :) This is hard. I don't usually use flags/tabs when I read. Stolen Songbird is the 2nd book I used tabs to mark all my favorite lines and scenes (Tuesdays with Morrie being the 1st).

I think I'll go with this:

“I think it is our nature to believe evil always has an ugly face,” he said, ignoring my question. “Beauty is supposed to be good and kind, and to discover it otherwise is like a betrayal of trust. A violation of the nature of things.”
Feb 29, 2016 08:53PM

135338 And once again, I'm late for this week's discussion, but better than never. :p

1. I organize my books based first on genre, then by author and series, and lastly by format (hardcover first). I have a separate shelf for fantasy books, and for Julie Kagawa (because I have all her books except her collabs with other authors, and I want them all together. lol). It's pretty hard to get rid of books, but I sold and gave away few before, those I didn't like very much. I also hardly reread books, because I have so much unread on my shelves. But if it's my favorite, like Stolen Songbird, I can reread the book as many as I can.

2. I'll be honest, I really didn't like Anais at first and I was really bothered that she and Tristan had a history because I don't want anyone getting in between Cecile and Tristan. lol. Yes, as selfish as I may sound, when I learned more about Anais and saw how much she cares for Tristan, my respect for her grew. Especially on the last chapters of Stolen Songbird and after reading Hidden Huntress, I saw how strong her loyalty towards Tristan is. In the end, my initial impression of her didn't matter anymore. Anais is a strong and brave character and I'd love to know more about her.

3. I think that this moment was the perfect timing. I love the phase of their relationship. The way Cecile developed her feelings for Tristan by seeing him in another light was just right. Actually, I love their banters with each other, pretend or not. I have a thing for love-hate relationship too. lol. And sometimes, Tristan's nasty behavior towards Cecile seems so real that even Cecile (actually even I) was not sure if it was still pretend. But the moment was perfect for their feelings to grow for each other.

4. The moment Cecile got involved with Lessa, I grew to love her more. That act was really brave AND foolish at the same time, but it was really admirable. If it was me, I'd surely have the urge to do the same as Cecile, but I'm not sure if I'd have the same courage as her.

5. The king always wants to control Tristan. Maybe it's his way... by shaking Tristan off and by making him fear the King and his power. He wants to send warning regarding Tristan's relationship with Cecile? Actually, I don't know. lol

Awww. Thank you, Danielle! I'm so honored. ♥ And yes, me too!! I can't wait to draw a new Tristan and Cecile fan art!!
Feb 20, 2016 06:25AM

135338 1. I don't particularly imagine myself inside the book, well, there are times certainly. But most of the time, it's more of the opposite. I imagine the book (characters, the rules, magic, etc) into our world. I'm married to Prince Aldrik on my Twitter, aren't I? And on my blog profile, I mentioned that I am bonded with Tristan. Looool. (If you call that imagining myself into the world I'm reading and vise versa.) :p The last one I read which inspired me to write mental fanfic, Earth's End. :)

2. Yeah!!! If it's Tristan or Aldrik why would I say no??? But seriously, in reality, I think I'd restrain the same way as Cecile when she was bonded with Tristan. Because... forming a bond with a stranger? Nah, and I have trust issues. lol.

3. Dedicate every minute to annoying your captors? --- I think this will work the best for me. lol. But this is already after I was bonded, right? Hmm, then again, if it's one of my princes I got bonded with, I'd behave and take advantage of the benefits. Why restrain when I know that there's nothing I can really do? I'll just live my life to the fullest while I can. :D

4. The ending of Stolen Songbird. :) Even if it hurt my heart the most (I'm not much of a masochist like Melissa, I swear. loool), it's still beautiful. I mean, by the way Tristan showed how much he can give up everything for Cecile. It's my favorite that's why I chose to draw it for the HH fan art contest. :)
