I'm thinking about reading book only by Czech authors this time around (and hopefully finish more than one). They usually have only a few rating here on goodreads (not many of them are translated) and I've accumulated quite a lot of book by young authors, both fiction and poetry, so I'm hoping to get to them!
I didn't think I'm gonna join but it seems I did pick up sort of underhyped books. Both are companion novels to TV shows (I've had them home for year, it was about time to get them read). The first one is Bone Key by Keith R.A. DeCandido and it's a companion to Supernatural. The second one that I finished today is Another Life by Peter Anghelides and it's a companion to Torchwood. I have to say that despite them not being top notch in writing, they made me feel kinda nostalgic (since Torchwood has ended and Supernatural is... whatever it is now).Until the end of the week I'm planing to read Emmeline Pankhurst's My Own Story which I found has only 179 ratings. If I'll have the time, I'll finish Klaus Mann's Mephisto, which apparently no one on GR reads despite it being a classic.
So I made myself read the last 70 pages of Lessing's The Cleft and surprisingly it wasn't as bad as the 70 pages before.I also started another audiobook, Drogon Precint by Keith R.A. DeCandido. It's not a masterpiece but I'm liking it so far so I'll see what I'll think after I finish it.
I finished listening to The Assassination of Margaret Thatcher (Hilary Mantel) and it was amazing. I still have two other exams this week so I'll probably just start another audiobook.
I was supposed to be studying but I didn't... so I read 74 pages of non-fiction book put together by Czech music journalist for 40th anniversary of Glastonbury festival. I also read about 45 pages of John King's Skinheads and listen to 45% of The Assassination of Margaret Thatcher - short stories my Hilary Mantel.Honestly, I surprised myself of how much I have managed to read, but I'm not surprised at all that I have gone completely of my TBR. It happens to me all the time!
I put together a TBR pile somehow, but it's like always overly enthusiastic - 8 books. I'm already halfway through some of them so I'm hoping to finish these - Doris Lessing's The Cleft and a short story collection Empower: Fight like a Girl. Both of these I started ages ago so I really need to get to them.I'm also hoping to with an audiobook of something underhyped so I could listen to it tomorrow in work.
Most of my underhyped picks have under 1,000 rating, only the Doris Lessing book has under 2,000 rating (good enough for me).
