50x66 the other famous example of cryptomnesia comes from george harrison, whose song "my sweet lord" was melodically lifted from an earlier song, "he's so fine". he was sued, and lost and had to give up an unfair (IMO) amount of revenue from his first post beatles album. anyway the story is interesting and is a case of unintentionality, unlike ginnie jones.

50x66 this reminds me of that scene in "the squid and the whale" where the kid plays "hey you" by pink floyd for the talent competition. he ends up winning, but he picked such a famous song, there was no way he wouldn't get caught. then when the school counselor asks him why he did it he says, i felt like i could have written the song, so the fact that someone else already wrote it didn't really matter to me. it seems like it was obvious ginnie would get caught, yet it's easier to copy and paste and then have people say they liked your reviews than it is to spend a good hour or two writing out your own thoughts. but you guys all know that.
