TurbulentJust finished Turbulent.
It's not that I disliked it, I just couldn't really get into it. It read more like a history book as opposed to a story. It's definitely plot driven, which is not bad and some people prefer that, and I'm not opposed to that sort of story, but I definitely wanted to know more about the characters, what made them tick, etc.
This story is told from five points of view - the main two being Maddie and her brother. Personally, I feel putting in the little girl's POV would have been an interesting twist seeing as she lost her family in such a horrific way and now she's left floundering and stuck with a girl she knows nothing about.
I do enjoy a good apocalyptic story though and am rather fascinated to think what would happen if something like an EMP attack occurred. What would people do? How fast would people turn on each other? Though this story is told from so many POV's, it almost has to in order to get a full appreciation for what is happening with the story as a whole and I suppose the author felt telling a story from this many POV's would almost require a plot-driven story - but still, I wanted access to these characters inner thoughts and struggles as they witnessed humanity at its worse.
I don't think I'll read the rest of this series - not because I didn't like the story, I just couldn't get into HOW it was told.
Three stars.
