139590 Mockingjay
Suzanne Collins
Chapters 9-14

In the middle of the book Mockingjay, Katniss is still in District 13 with the Rebels. The Capital has just tried to bomb the Rebels, but the bombs did not do much damage and no one was hurt. Right after the bombing, the Rebels plan to rescue Peeta from the Capital. But Peeta doesn't recognize Katniss and turns on the rescue team. Back in District 13, the Rebels need to find a strong emotional trigger to bring the old Peeta back.

The Rebels also continue to make videos to recruit members in other districts to fight against the Capital. The videos work well, but the Capital is countering with their own videos that make it look like Katniss is bad.

Meanwhile, the "Brains" (a group of rebels whose job is to plan attacks), are figuring out how to break into District 2's "Nut". The Nut is a big base for the Peacekeepers, so the Rebels want to destroy it and rescue captive Rebels. The plan is very dangerous and puts a lot of people's lives at risk, including Katniss and Gale's.

I think the action is picking up in the middle of the book and I liked that because the previous book, Catching Fire, was not exciting till the last part. This book is making me want to read more. I still recommend this book for people in grades 4th and up.

139590 Katniss Everdeen is the main character in the Mocking Jay book. She just escaped her second Hunger Games and is now in District 13. Katniss is surprised that there are actually people living in 13 and every one there is a rebel. Even more surprising is that they want to attack the capital and President Snow. The rebels are an organization that is trying to stop the capital from attacking the districts.

Katniss's anger just spills out of her because her district got obliterated. The rebels ask her to be their representatives and she says yes. She goes with her camera crew to the District 8 hospital where they interview people who just got hurt by the peacekeepers. Then the capital sends in an army of bombers and destroys the hospital, but Katniss shoots down all of them. When she is recovering from her injuries she turns on the tv and sees Peeta, her boyfriend. He says "Katniss, do you really trust these people?" He is talking about the rebels.
I think the beginning of the book was good. I could really see District 13 in my mind But Suzanne Collins repeated too much of the previous books, so sometimes I was bored. So far I recommend this book for people aged 9 and up.

139590 The No.1 car spotter
By: Atinuke
Review by: Cyrus Slinger
No.1 is a boy who lives in a small, village in Africa. His village calls him No.1 because he can spot cars from the farthest distance possible, but his full name is Oluwalase Badatunde Benson. When No.1 was little, a Toyota Corolla broke down in the middle of the village and was left there ever since. No.1's grandpa tells everyone to leave the car alone because it is a symbol of the village.
One day, when No.1 is 11, he goes to market with everyone from the village to sell their vegetables. But the village's wagon breaks and they cannot fix it. No.1 had been thinking about fixing the Toyota Corolla so it could be used again. So he calls some of his school friends to modify the car. They turn it into a wagon pulled by cows and then take the stuff to the market.
No.1's best friend is called Coca Cola. He lives in the same village. Coca Cola's mom Mama Coca Cola, makes a living by selling soup and beverages by the side of the road. That’s where her family got their names. No.1’s dad works in the city to help his family survive. No.1's grandma gets sick but they don’t have enough money to go to the hospital. What will happen to his grandma? Read the book to find out.
I recommend this book for everybody who is in 3rd or 4th grade. It is short and has easy words, but it is interesting. The author is very descriptive about No.1's life in the village. I learned what it can be like to live in a small village in Africa.

139590 Catching Fire
By: Suzanne Collins
Review by: Cyrus Slinger

Katniss is the main character in the book Catching Fire. She just found out that she has to
go back to the arena to do the games again and she is not happy about that. Katniss has to leave
her family again. She goes with the other tribute from district 12, Peeta. They take the train to the
capital, where they practice for the games again.

When Katniss goes to the tribute interviews, President Snow orders her to wear a
wedding dress. But Cinna makes a few changes to the dress. Peeta tells the audience that Katniss
is pregnant so that they could get more sponsors. Katniss and Peeta make alliances with Finnick
and other tributes to try to win the game. When the game starts they run into the forest and they
encounter a force field that is bordering the whole dome. Katniss and her allies try to break the
force field. One day in the dome it is really stormy and bolts of lightning are hitting everything.
Catching Fire

I think this book was very slow in the beginning, but when it got to the games it was
very exciting. Suzanne Collins used a lot of description in this book and it was easier to picture
what was happening than in the first book. I liked meeting new characters, especially Finnick.
The author went more in-depth about some of the characters’ life stories.

139590 Catching Fire
By: Suzanne Collins
Review by: Cyrus Slinger

Catching Fire is the second book in the Hunger Games series. Katniss is the main character. Katniss just won her first Hunger Games and is now a victor. She won the Hunger Games with a boy named Peeta. They are back in District 12 and are going to get married soon. Katniss likes to go into the forbidden forest to hunt. President Snow sends in reenforcement Peacekeepers to get people to follow the rules. Peacekeepers are very harsh to people who don't follow their rules.

The next day Katniss finds out that one of her friends is going to be whipped. She runs to where her friend is getting punished and stands in front of the Peacekeeper. The Peacekeeper whipped her across the face. Now she really doesn't like the president. She finds out that other districts are complaining, too. So President Snow says that every district now has to send their victors to the games again. Katniss goes crazy and breaks a window and escapes to her trainer’s house. She finds that haymitch is drunk. Katniss gets drunk too. When she wakes up she is in big trouble.

Suzanne Collins did a good job on the first book in the trilogy, but I think the first Book was more exiding. So far the book is boring it needs to be more action packed. The most exciting part of the last book was the hunger games so I am excited to find out what happens in the arena in this book.
