I am reading Ashes by Kathryn Lasky,I've read 253/309 pages. Ashes is about a German family, during the very beginning of the Holocaust. I am towards the end of the book, there isn't much that happens until the middle to the end of the book. There are more differences than there are similarities. Some of the similarities consist of the SA and SS taking over everything, Jewish people are being taken out of their jobs and schools, no one really knows what happens to the Jewish when they are first taken, and Germans in charge treat Jews terribly.
I still think Tom is the most dangerous. Tom managed to get Gatsby killed for something he had no connections with. Tom thinks what he did was the right thing to do and that Gatsby had it coming. Tom is responsible for Gatsby's murder, and indirectly Myrtle's, yet it doesn't even phase him. Tom blames things on other people even if the result was caused by his actions. When Myrtle and Gatsby were killed Tom and Daisy just left without any fear they will get in trouble or any thought that they ended three people's lives.
I have modernism, which in my opinion is the hardest theory. the most I have about modernism is science and the books Tom mention. If I were to change theories I would choose to do feminism, there is a lot in The Great Gatsby. An example would be the fact that it's okay for Tom to cheat often, but when Daisy does it a couple times it's not okay at all.
Tom Buchanan is the most dangerous character so far. He is well known and not because of the extravagant parties that he throws, like Gatsby. People don't say anything bad about him, I think it's because they're afraid of him and the connections he has. Daisy doesn't tell anyone about him abusing him nor does she leave him for cheating on her.
